Thoughts on Memorial Day...

I feel conflicted because patriotism is high within my friends and yet I see the evil within war..

I was a combat veteran in vietnam during the 'tet offensive' and now I seek only peace..

How can I speak of peace when war is honored ?..

I remain silent..

Between the 'thanks for my service', I feel grief..

My half smile remains to placate those that wish me honor,

But, a tear begins it's descent upon my cheek..

I hide it within a swipe of my finger but Truth is Powerful..

Perhaps, tomorrow will bring the gift of forgetfulness..
