The Light of Consciousness...

The Light of Consciousness as Revealed by Turning the Light Around to Illuminate Itself

When you look directly into your own mind or consciousness in a moment of contemplation you can recognize the nature of that consciousness directly. That is called “turning the Light around to illuminate Itself”. There is no material substance there and no permanent personality found. It’s also noticed that consciousness is an aware knowing.

It’s also easily observed that consciousness is always manifesting impermanent thoughts, images, sensations and perceptions. All of those manifestations are its own Light. The Light spontaneously manifesting as provisional and impermanent empty, light-forms, can be considered to appear as holograms. All there is, isthe Light of Consciousness appearing to Itself. This is like the inseparability of water, its transparent clarity and its shimmering waves as the complete definition of the ocean itself.

This Light is aware and luminous hence all the manifestations are enlivened, vivid and vital. They arise from a Source of infinite potential that in Itself is never revealed to be different from its own manifestations of Light. Nothing exists outside of the Light.

Enlightenment is a moment when the Light shines upon Itself. The essential aspect of the Light is like transparent space. The cognitive aspect of the Light is a condition of aware knowing. The material aspect of the Light is a spectrum of radiant symmetries whose self-organizing energies only point to the infinite Intelligence that embodies the Light.

Outside of this Light nothing else shines or appears nor perceives. Only the Light knows Itself.

Without paying heed to countless numbers of systems, traditions, philosophies and religions that promise that only they understand the Light; just look directly into the Light by turning the Light of attention inward to shine upon Itself. If successful, you will only see Light upon Light, wonder upon wonder within the domain of the Light of Love’s allure and its ceaseless delight.

"God is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The parable of His light is, as it were, that of a niche containing a lamp; the lamp enclosed in glass, the glass shining like a radiant star: a lamp lit from a blessed tree – an olive-tree that is neither of the east nor of the west – the oil whereof is so bright that it would well-nigh give light of itself even though fire had not touched it: light upon light!”
