It is said that in Nirvikalpa Samadhi time is brought to a standstill.
Obviously this can only happen when the ego is temporarily paralyzed.
Ramana Maharshi used to say that the ego is nothing but a bundle of
thoughts and does not exist by itself as a separate entity.
Nirvikalpa, being the thought-free state and involving the suspension
of the movement of thought, is therefore the suspension of the
movement of time in the ego's consciousness.
