Rather than being undisciplined in one's own
emotions and reactions, muraqaba practiced
over time re-trains the mind to focus in a far
deeper and more objective way. One becomes far
less buffeted by circumstance. Initially, one feels
simply like an observer. In time, one finds oneself
immersed in experiencing one's experience in
a crisp, clear, moment-to-moment way.
This also relates to your observation in another
thread about time. Muraqaba helps us to
experience that time and space are constructs,
albeit useful ones for keeping things organized
in consensus reality.
Rabita is a valuable tool in retraining ourselves
in concert with muraqaba in that it opens us to
the specific, self-selected points of view of realized
beings. This allows us to experience the Qualities
that they manifest in a tactile (for lack of a better
word) way, and to retrain ourselves to experientially
accepting the infinite points of view as we see them
every day reflected in the mosaic of God that we
call "us". As Hafizullah pointed out, we are all
inner-connected and inter-connected. Muraqaba
helps make this intellectual knowledge adamant
in our being. When we're conscious of this, when
our hearts truly are opened by it, we become more
living. This affects everyone and everything around
us.
