[Tukaram was a Hindu Perfect Master who lived in
Maharahtra, India in the first half of the seventeenth
century. Although born an illiterate peasant who never
studied formally, he is considered one of the greatest
Maharathi poets in the Bhakti tradition. He gave
thanks that he was not learned, for he said that it
