The Chicken or the Egg... from Jesus Speaks...

I would like to settle the age-old question about the chicken and the egg once and for all. The chicken came first.

Now let us move on to the more serious questions. The following discourse contains detailed teachings about how God created the universe. A brief summary is that God has an unmanifest aspect, which I like to call pure Being. Another aspect of God is the creator, which is the actual origin of everything that was created in the world a form. To start creation, the creator brings forth an element which can be molded into any conceivable form. This is what the Bible refers to in the saying, “Let there be light.”

As I explain, God the creator is the acting, or masculine, principle, whereas the Light of God is the receiving, or feminine, principle. So everything in the world of form is created out of the feminine aspect of God. That is why some religions say that everything was created from the Mother God or the Goddess, and that is why some religions worship God as a feminine deity.

The masculine and feminine aspects of God have always existed. Therefore, in a sense it is meaningless to talk about whether God was masculine before feminine or the other way around. These two principles, or aspects, are inseparable and it really doesn't make sense to talk about one without the other.

The age-old question of what came first is really a product of the limited human consciousness which sees everything based on its own situation. Because human beings experience that their physical lives have a beginning and an end, they reason that everything else must also have a beginning and an end.

In terms of the world of form, one can say that everything was created out of the feminine principle, the feminine substance, of God. Therefore, everything in the world of form is created from God the Mother. However, everything was created by God the Father, so by its very nature creation began with the vision held in the mind of God the Father. It was the masculine aspect of God that started the process of creation. The feminine aspect of God took on whatever form was envisioned by the mind of God.

This is not to say that the feminine aspect of God does not have a mind, or consciousness. However, the feminine aspect lovingly allows the masculine aspect to act upon her and carries out the vision held by the masculine aspect. Creation was initiated by the masculine aspect of God and carried out by the feminine aspect of God. If you want to talk about beginning and end, you might say that creation started as an idea, as a vision, in the consciousness of the masculine aspect of God.

It is certainly viable to say that the eternal Mother slept before she unfolded because the feminine aspect of God has always existed as a principle. The Divine Mother did lay latent, inactive, until she was acted upon by the Divine Father.

I do not agree that the religion of the mother goddess was the first on the planet. When human beings first descended on this planet, they had not forgotten their spiritual origin. Therefore, they were fully aware of both God the Father and God the Mother, and they had an active relationship to both. The relationship that people had to their divine parents before the fall was very different, and therefore it would not be correct to say that people before the fall worshipped God or even had a religion as it is understood today.

As explained elsewhere, it was the feminine aspect of every soul that first fell into a lower state of consciousness. This happened because the feminine aspect of the soul started to take on the ways of the world instead of remaining true to its own masculine aspect, namely the spiritual self. As a result of the descent into a lower state of consciousness, souls forgot their spiritual origin and therefore lost the memory of the masculine aspect of God.

Because souls lived in a world created from the very substance of the feminine aspect of God, they could not completely forget this aspect of God. That is why many primitive cultures worshipped the feminine aspect of God in the form of the Earth Mother, which they believed gave them life. It was only after humankind had, in a very slow ascent, risen to a higher state of consciousness that souls again began to have a clear concept of the masculine aspect of God.

What has happened today is that many people, most notably in the West, have forgotten the feminine aspect of God and exclusively worship the masculine aspect of God. This is a typical example of how people, because of their spiritual immaturity and lack of balance, swing from one extreme to the other.

What will happen in the coming decades is that humankind will come to a greater recognition of the need to have an understanding of and a relationship to both the masculine and feminine aspects of God. The simple fact is that your spiritual life cannot be complete without having this healthy balance between the masculine and feminine aspects. This applies not only to how you see God but also to how you see yourself........from askrealjesus.com

The Old Testament (Torah)...

The Old Testament (Torah) has much Wisdom within its' pages but also many
inaccuracies.. In this writing, God is depicted as an angry and vengeful entity
and power that commanded souls to kill other souls and caused earthly
calamities.. The God that most Know today is not this god of the Old Testament..
This is why Jesus came into this world.. His main mission was to tell us that
this was not the Real God.. He said , the Real God is the Energy and Power of
Love.. And to Know God, you must also become this energy of Love.. This is
accomplished by ridding oneself of the false ego, as the false ego is the
opposite of Love.. This false ego is also called selfishness.. This is why, the
word Fear was used in the Torah, as it referred to the false god of the
hebrews.. This god is the god of selfishness and ego.. Some mystics of the old
testament were able to know this Truth and write about wisdom and love but the
problem lies in the fact that most Christians still believe and follow the old
testament instead of finding Truth within themselves.. As Jesus said;" The
Kingdom of God is within".............namaste, thomas

Truth...

An absolute and irrefutable truth can exist only for a mind freed from the predicament of relativity into which human beings, finite and conditioned as they are, are plunged. Each man, therefore, states his own personal version of truth. Only the sage, deep in the meditation of nirvikalpa samadhi, temporarily deprived of personality, gets absorbed for the time in the Absolute. But when he returns to ordinary consciousness and tries to state what he knows, it is through the ego that his communication is made.

Jesus Speaks...

Question: I have read teachings that claim, because man and God are one, we are in fact God. Is there some truth to this? Are there new energies coming into this world that will enable many of us to become healers?

Answer from Jesus:

This is in fact true, as I explain throughout this website, and especially in the seven discourses on Christhood. And although many Christians will consider this to be blasphemy, there is in fact scriptural support for it. Consider the following passage:

30 I and my Father are one.
31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.
32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?
33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?
35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;
36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?
37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.
38 But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him. (John, Chapter 10).

Take note here that the quote clearly says “Ye are Gods” in plural. In other words, it is not spoken of just one person. As I seek to explain throughout this website, the biggest problem with orthodox Christianity is that it has turned me into an idol instead of an example to follow. So when I said that “I and my Father are one” and “My Father works hitherto and I work” (John 5:17), I meant to set an example to demonstrate what all people have the potential to accomplish by putting on the mind of Christ.

When you do attain personal Christhood, you accept your true identity as a son or daughter of God, and therefore you begin to act as a co-creator with God. This is indeed what God wants for all of his sons and daughters. How can this be blasphemy when it truly is the will and the love of God?

In fact, true blasphemy is to deny God and the presence of God. So if you deny the presence of God in every aspect of God's creation, then you are being blasphemous. Does it not say in the scriptures:

All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. (John 1:3)

Consequently, God is in everything because God is omnipresent. God truly is all there is, so God cannot create anything that is different from or apart from God. God creates everything out of his own substance and being, and therefore everything has God’s consciousness within it.

God has created self-conscious beings with free will, so they have the potential to deny their true identity. Yet it is only the consciousness of anti-christ that causes people to deny that God is within them. Why do orthodox Christians think I said:

Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. (Luke 17:21)

It is astounding to me that most Christians completely refuse to look at these passages in the scriptures and acknowledge that they clearly contain keys to my true inner teachings. How difficult can it be to read between the lines and see that I was clearly teaching people that God is within everyone and within everything? How difficult can it be for people to realize that only when you accept that God is within you, and within your brothers and sisters, can there be an end to conflict and killing on Earth?

It is only by seeing the God within your brothers and sisters that human beings will be able to "love one another as I have loved you" (John 13:34) and still love you. Do you seriously believe I love the human ego with all of its foibles and selfishness? No, I love your true identity, namely the son or daughter of God who is hiding behind the outer personality that is often dominated by the ego. So dare to follow Paul and let your ego die daily (1Corinthians 15:31). Dare to put off the old man and put on the new man (Ephesians 4:22-24), the God man – or woman – who lives in the kingdom within.

Concerning the second part of the question, it is true that in the Age of Aquarius, many people will become healers. However, many will specialize in healing the psyche (the soul), which is the true key to healing the body......from askrealjesus.com

Eckhart Tolle from Stillness Speaks ...

When each thought absorbs your attention completely, it means you identify
with the voice in your head. Thought then becomes invested with a sense of
self. This is the ego, a mind-made "me." That mentally constructed self
feels incomplete and precarious. That's why fearing and wanting are its
predominant emotions and motivating forces.

When you recognize that there is a voice in your head that pretends to be
you and never stops speaking, you are awakening out of your unconscious
identification with the stream of thinking. When you notice that voice, you
realize that who you are is not the voice - the thinker - but the one who is
aware of it.

Knowing yourself as the awareness behind the voice is freedom.

The Golden Mean...

Spiritual life is not an extreme of avoiding or
getting. It is a balance that you have to maintain
between two things. Neither you should cling to
the body, nor should you torture it. That is the
mean that you have to maintain, - the golden
mean.

Manifesting Christhood...

TOPIC: You cannot manifest Christhood unless you let go of all expectations of seeing outer results, for people who will not rise above their egos will have to justify it by criticizing you—and you must let the Word flow regardless of their reactions
Ascended Master Patrick, May 18, 2007

The test of overcoming all expectations
You see, my Beloved, there is a teaching I would give you that relates to what I started talking about, of my feeling somewhat depressed over the lack of response. And I must tell you that this came from my own conditions, from my own expectations, where my spiritual vision of going to Ireland had been used in subtle ways by my ego to create the expectation of certain outer results, of seeing a physical manifestation of many people converted. Even a subtle sense that I could see the results from my labor, not that I had a desire to be elevated, but I had a desire to see that my labor had borne fruit, that I had made a difference.

And so this, my Beloved, is something that all Saints and spiritual people have struggled with and must struggle with. For the spiritual path, as we have said, is not an outer path, so in a sense why would you expect outer results? Yet I realize full well – for I have gone through it myself – that there is a point on the path where you need to see some result of your action in order to keep going. And therefore at the lower levels of the path, you do need to see that you are making a difference, by seeing outer differences, outer results.

But I tell you, as you walk the path – especially when you come closer to Christhood – that there will come an essential initiation, where you will need to let go of all your expectations, all of your conditions of wanting to see a certain outer result. For if you do not, you cannot manifest your Christhood.

For the Christ is completely non-attached to what response he gets from the people on Earth, for his is not here to awaken them. He is here to let his light so shine before men that they have the opportunity to see that there is an alternative to the serpentine, human state of consciousness. But the Christ knows that he is not here to chose for them, but to give them the opportunity to chose, which they did not have when they had only seen people who talked religion based on the serpentine mind.

And so my Beloved, if you think back to your own experience of walking that mountain yesterday, you will see that you might have a certain vision, a certain expectation, of what might happen at the top. Certain things you would like to see, certainly a little ray of sunshine and a lot less rain, or perhaps other expectations. But I must tell you that those who are the true overcomers on the spiritual path – those who win their ascension, those who fulfill their divine plans – are those who are willing to take a look at such expectations and say, “I am not here to fulfill these outer expectations and conditions. For I am only here to let my light shine.”

You see, my Beloved, when you have expectations, especially when you have expectations of how other people should respond to you speaking the Word, well then you set yourself up in a dualistic situation where your inner fulfillment and peace depends on something outside yourself, depends on other people who have free will. And it is predictable, is it not, that there will be some people to whom you preach the Living Word, who will use their free will to refuse to rise above the serpentine consciousness. And thus, they will refuse to go along with you and, my beloved, when they reject the opportunity to come up higher, what must they do? Well, their egos must justify this rejection, and how do they do this? By criticizing you, by putting you down, by putting your teaching down, by finding slick serpentine ways to cast doubt on the validity on your teaching, the purity of your motive or any other thing they can think of.

So you need to recognize, my Beloved, as you have talked about today, that some of you realize that you are reluctant to stand up and let your light shine. And surely, we who have ascended all understand this, because we have gone through it. But I tell you, we went through it precisely because we came to the point where we recognized that we were not here to please or even awaken other people. We were here to let our light shine. And that was our job. That was our job number one, as they say. And it was the only job.

So you see, when you make that shift – and it is a fundamental shift in consciousness – your inner fulfillment does not depend on anything outside yourself. And it is only then that the prince of this world will have nothing in you, whereby he can discourage or scare you into not sharing your light at all. Or whereby he can play on your pride and get you to feel that surely you must be pleasing to God because you have preached to all these people and done this or that to promote this or that teaching.

Do you see my Beloved, there is always the two dualistic polarities of fear and pride, the inferiority/superiority complex. For one cannot exist without the other, but YOU can exist without both of them—when the Conscious Self recognizes that it is more than this dualistic personality and identity. And thus, you are willing to let it die, as Mother Mary said. You realize that surrendering this dualistic personality is not a loss but a gain.

And my Beloved, this is what happened to me that day, when I sat at that creek. I finally saw the folly of my attachment to outer results. For my Beloved, why did I start my mission in Ireland? Because I had a divine vision, an inner spiritual vision. And so what was the folly of thinking that I could only continue following that vision if I have certain outer manifestations. No, I needed to be true to the inner vision, to be non-attached to the outer. And when I had that non-attachment, I can assure you that I had further visions, and I felt a much greater inner fulfillment than I could ever have felt, even if the entire country of Ireland and been converted by me personally.

Find the true bliss beyond dualistic expectations
Do you see my Beloved, as Jesus talked about at the last retreat, there are these dualistic roles in the play that you can play. But as long as you go into a dualistic role, surely you can experience joy, but it is the joy that is in a polarity with sorrow. But beyond it is the bliss of God. And that is what you can experience when you let go of those expectations.

So my Beloved, if you truly want to be the saints of the Aquarian Age, the forerunners of the Aquarian Age, look at your expectations, look at your attachments, be willing to let go of them and say, “I am not following the spiritual path, I am not promoting a spiritual teaching, I am not speaking the Word in order to see a particular outer result. I am simply speaking the Word because it gives me the unconditional Joy of God to feel that Word flowing through me. What else could I possibly need than that? Why do I need some human beings pampering my ego, telling me I am special, I am doing a wonderful job, when I know from within that I am being who I was created to be, and I feel the infinite joy of the flow of the River of Life through me. “

You see, my Beloved, when you are in the darkness, a little flashlight can seem like a great comfort. But when the sun is high in the sky, do you sit there staring at the flashlight, or do you look up at the sun? For truly, my Beloved, there are many people on Earth who do follow the lesser light of the moon, even when the sun has risen. But those who are the saints, those who are the overcomers, those who have ascended, are those who look for the sun within themselves, who see that Sun of the I AM Presence, and who follow it, never again looking back to the moon. You might have needed the moon at some point, but when you connect to who you really are, you no longer need it, and you can let it drop away from you and never again have expectations or desires that human beings should treat you a certain way.

What does it matter to you, my Beloved? Why would those who have the Spirit of God ever need approval of those who are in the serpentine consciousness? Be they among the people, be they in Church leadership, be they in the governments, be they in the media, be they among the rich or the powerful and the high and the mighty, why do you need it? Why do you think Christ stood in the hills and preached to the common people? Why do you think that I did the same most of the time? It was indeed because we realized that that is where you find those who are open-minded, those who are the meek who shall inherit the Earth.

And my Beloved, when you look back at history, look at those who are the high and the powerful. Look at the empires they have built of various kinds. Well my Beloved, have they not all crumbled? And so can you not look at the empires that you have today and say, “They too will crumble, for the ever-moving flow of the River of Life will wear them away, will smoothen them out, for the high shall be made low by the passage of time.”

And so the meek shall inherit the Earth, the meek being those who are willing to go beyond the dualistic games of playing either Lord or follower, Master or slave. But indeed, being the independent ones who say, “I do not need to control other people, nor do I need someone to control me and tell me what to do. For I am willing to take responsibility for my own path, and make my own choices.”

This is the difference between those who have overcome and those who are still in the dualistic state, where they suffer and have joy and suffer and have joy, and suffer and have joy in an endless cycle—that will not end until you make the decision that “Enough is enough!” and you will no longer play the game.

We all had our challenges
My Beloved, one more note on idolatry: I did have a spiritual vision, but I can assure you that when I came to this island and felt the mass consciousness literally seeking to push me into the sea, I had my moments where I was wondering if this was indeed possible. And I only overcame it by being willing to surrender the expectations, and I only surrendered those expectations by making the decision to let it go. The decision that I am not the doer, for it is God within me who is the doer.

I tell you this because I want you to realize that even for the most spiritually mature people, such as Jesus himself, there are indeed times when your vision is clouded because as yesterday, when you were ascending that mountain, you were literally walking in a dense cloud and you can see only a few yards ahead. And there are times on the path for anyone, where all you can do is to lean forward against the wind, bend the head and determine to keep putting one foot in front of the other until you pass through that cloud and the weather clears.

My Beloved, so many people look back at Jesus’ life, at my life, at Mother Mary's life and say, “Oh it must have been easy for them, they never had any doubts, they never had any problems, they never encountered any difficulties.”

But we all did, you see. And so why did we make it? Was it because we were special? Yes indeed, we were special. Was it because we were stronger? Yes indeed we were stronger. Why were we special, why were we stronger? Because we decided to take one more step than the person who gave up. You see, my Beloved, how do you win the race? By always taking one more step than you think is possible or necessary.

For I tell you, truly, as long as there is that doubt in your own being, the forces of this world will pound on you relentlessly as the winds yesterday showed no signs of stopping, no compassion whatsoever. And so the only way to make it through, is to not let it bother you because you are not attached. You do not have an expectation that it should be easy. I must tell you that so many sincere well-meaning spiritual people have been awakened to the spiritual path, have started doing some outer work, but they have had an expectation that if they were willing to sacrifice themselves, to sacrifice a part of their life in order to promote the spiritual teachings, well then somehow God would make it easy for them.

This is something all of you have seen if you will be honest, in yourself and in others. Certainly, these two messengers have seen it in their own lives. And yet they were willing to re-asses their expectations, realize their expectations were not realistic, and then keep following their vision, their inner vision, and just sharing their light and their teachings they have received, no matter what the outer response was. And this is how you will win, this is how you will overcome.

For then you come to that point where there is no resistance in you, so the wind can blow right through you. And then you can move as if there was no wind of the mass consciousness. You see what I am saying, my Beloved? They Holy Spirit is a mighty wind. And yes, the Holy Spirit is stronger than any wind on Earth. So theoretically, if you have a sufficient flow of the Holy Spirit, you can resist any of the forces on Earth.

But do you see that in this Aquarian age we are calling you to come up higher, to go beyond the dualistic game and say, “We will not seek to gain the Holy Spirit in order to push against the false spirits, and impress them with some trickery or some outer physical manifestation. We will instead seek the even higher spirit, the Spirit that is beyond duality that does not push against the forces of this world.” It simply blows right through them, reaching those who are open-minded and have open hearts to the true non-dualistic universal, timeless, eternal, triumphant teachings of Christ that are being brought forth in this age, and shall continue to be brought forth throughout the Aquarian Age as long as there are hearts who are open and mouths who are willing to speak the Living Word, which is truly the only way that the teachings of Christ can be brought forth in their pure form.

For my Beloved, you can go back and read these words in a book, but will you get the same flow in the voice that is speaking? And as this messenger said earlier about the dictation given on the mountain yesterday,* if anyone thinks that a human being can have that power, well they do not understand the Spirit. For surely there is a flow of the Spirit, and there could be an even greater flow of the Spirit, and might be in the future, if it is necessary.

Our vision for this movement
But I tell you, my Beloved, we are not out to produce an impressing display in front of 50 000 people, where we have people fall over and jump out of wheel chairs. For that is not our aim with this movement. Our aim is to awaken those who do not need these outer manifestations. Because, as I said yesterday, they know what is true in their hearts.

And so my Beloved, what is it we desire to see for this new movement. Well, we do not desire to see two people who have the flow of the Spirit. We desire to see many who have the flow of the Spirit in various forms and capacities. And so my Beloved, the same God that is in me is in you. The same God that was in Christ Jesus when he walked the Earth is in you right now at this moment. The difference is that Jesus was willing to say, “Not my will but thine be done. I and my Father are one so my Father can do whatever he wants to do through me. And whatever words I receive from my Father, I will speak them to the people.”

Jesus was willing to let the God in him out of the box. When you become willing to do the same thing, surely that God will work through you, according to your divine plan. So the question is, again, when will you be willing to do this? When will you be willing to let go of your expectations and your conditions? For you see, my Beloved, those expectations and conditions have exactly the effect of preventing God from working through you, for God will not violate your free will.

So if you have an expectation that the Holy Spirit should flow only in certain ways, well then the Holy Spirit will not flow through you. It simply cannot be, for in the Aquarian Age, the Holy Spirit will only flow through those who are in the River of Life, the river of self-transcendence, and who are willing to demonstrate that river by being willing to transcend themselves on a daily basis, never saying “This cannot be done,” never saying “This should be such and such.”

So you see my Beloved, do not be disturbed by anything, do not be disturbed by a sudden noise, do not be disturbed by other people’s reactions and their thoughts. Being who you are is the absolute requirement for making your ascension. You cannot enter the kingdom of God permanently until you have demonstrated that you are willing to be the Christ in front of the world and the condemnation of the world. For only in being willing to demonstrate that, to endure the scorn and the ridicule and the persecution of the world, can you truly demonstrate to yourself my Beloved that you have attained total non-attachment to the things of this world.

For you see, my Beloved, the ultimate test is to let those who are the scornful do and say whatever they want to say, and just turn the other cheek. For when you feel in your Being that no matter what they send at you, it will not touch that infinite peace in your heart, well then you know that you have overcome your expectations, your attachments, your conditions.

And that is when you can then fulfill the final requirement for the ascension. Which is that you are willing to turn away from this world, to face the gate to the spiritual world and take that final step that brings you through that gate forever, so that you permanently leave the Earth behind. And this, my Beloved, is sometimes the most difficult test. And I can assure you that even for Jesus and myself this was a difficult test, for we still had a desire to see our work come to fruition and benefit other people.

But in the end, we had to be willing to say that if nothing visible had come out of our efforts on this Earth, we were still willing to leave the Earth behind. For if we had not been willing to do this my Beloved, what would have happened? Well, we would have had to come back into embodiment, would we not? Until we came to the point where we felt we could let go of the expectations and the conditions and walk that final step that permanently raised us above this world, regardless of the conditions in this world.

And so my Beloved, I thank you for enduring with me during this long discourse, but I wanted to give you a feel for my true Being. And so I deemed it more comfortable for you that I did not do that on the mountain yesterday, and surely this messenger appreciates my concern.

Thus my Beloved, once again I seal you in the ascension coil of Patrick, the Ascended Master. I give you a portion of my Peace, the peace that I found inside myself, the peace that helped me become non-attached to the serpents of this world, therefore rising above them as if they had never existed.

Thus, I say to you, “BE in the Peace of the Ascended Master Patrick.”
Thus, it is done!,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,from askrealjesus.com

The Perfect Life...

The perfect life is following one's own ideal, not in checking those of others;
leave everyone to follow his own ideal.

Bowl of Saki, by Hazrat Inayat Khan

Commentary by Pir-o-Murshid Inayat Khan:

Religion in the East is not made into a thing apart from one's life, as in the
West where business, profession, and other things on the one side of life, and
going to church one day in the week on the other side, together constitute
religion, with a prayer before going to rest. But, strictly speaking, life is
religion. When one has that ideal before one with whatever occupation one is
concerned, business, industry, domestic life, or whatever it is, one carries it
out, trying to be worthy of it, that is religion.

In the Hindu language, the same word, Dharma, means both duty and religion. Both
are expressed by one word. 'This is your Dharma' means: 'This is your faith.'
How beautiful the thought is! Whatever kind of duty it is, so long as you have
an ideal before you and are performing that duty, you are walking in the path of
religion.

We, with our narrowness of faith or belief, accuse others of belonging to
another religion, another chapel or church. We say, 'This temple is better, that
faith is better.' The whole world has kept on fighting and devastating itself
just because it can not understand that each form of religion is peculiar to
itself. Therefore, the ideal life is in following one's own ideal. It is not in
checking other people's ideals. If a certain thing is one's ideal, that does not
mean that another person will agree that it is best to offer prayers ten times a
day. He may be doing better by following his religion in his shop than by going
to a mosque and offering up a prayer twenty times a day. Perhaps somebody with
that ideal cannot see that the other person's way is an ideal also. Leave
everyone to follow his own ideal. ...

We see now that it is all a matter of his ideal whether a man differs from his
neighbor, whether he is heavenly or earthly, as high as the Devas, the heavenly
beings, or as low as the demons. His ideal makes him as high as the one, or as
low as the demons. The greatness of man lies in the greatness of his ideal.

Stormland...

"Once upon a time there was a place called Stormland.
And Stormland lived up to its name. And you have already,
hopefully, made a connection with your own inner nature.
That is Stormland. The flashes of anger, the thunder of
self-righteous indignation. The strain and pain of trying
to prove that you are right. How many times have I told you
to stop trying to prove you're right? The very attempt to
prove it means you're wrong."

Does Jesus Speak to us Now?...

Kim: Jesus, I regularly get angry e-mails from Christians who accuse me of blasphemy for pretending to be you or who have other reasons for refusing to sincerely consider that you could be talking to us today—through this website or other means. They seem unwilling to consider that you could have something to say today that goes beyond what is in the Bible.

What is the reason for this, given that one would think all who call themselves Christians would be open to hearing what you have to say?

Jesus: There is only one reason: These people have adopted a man-made image – a graven image – of Christ and they refuse to compare it to the reality of who I AM.

Kim: That’s all you have to say about this?

Jesus: As I explain in Stop rejecting my gift to you, I gave humankind a gift 2,000 years ago:

16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. (John, Chapter 14)

25 These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. (John, Chapter 14)

The purpose of this gift is that people can get to know me – the Living Christ – within their own hearts, so they do not need to go through a church or doctrine outside themselves.

Yet knowing the Living Christ in your heart makes it impossible for you to ignore the beam in your own eye, and thus knowing me means you have to change.

Those who are not willing to change must cling to a man-made image that I am a remote being, sitting in heaven without ever speaking directly to human beings.

When people see a distance between themselves and me, they can insert a man-made image in that space. And this allows them to create the image that they are good Christians and that they can be saved without removing the beam – the ego – in their own eye. This is what I called the broad way that leads to destruction.

I could give a long discourse about this – as I have already done other places on this website – but the equation is simple:

•For those who are willing to change, what I have said here will be enough to start the chain-reaction that will set them free to get to know me in their hearts.

•For those who are NOT willing to change, no amount of words would make a difference. In fact, the more I say, the more they have to argue against.

As I said: “Those who have ears had better hear!”

Remember until you are Forgotten...

Be Lost in the Call

Lord, said David, since you do not need us,
why did you create these two worlds?

Reality replied: O prisoner of time,
I was a secret treasure of kindness and generosity,
and I wished this treasure to be known,
so I created a mirror: its shining face, the heart;
its darkened back, the world;
The back would please you if you've never seen the face.

Has anyone ever produced a mirror out of mud and straw?
Yet clean away the mud and straw,
and a mirror might be revealed.

Until the juice ferments a while in the cask,
it isn't wine. If you wish your heart to be bright,
you must do a little work.

My King addressed the soul of my flesh:
You return just as you left.
Where are the traces of my gifts?

We know that alchemy transforms copper into gold.
This Sun doesn't want a crown or robe from God's grace.
He is a hat to a hundred bald men,
a covering for ten who were naked.

Jesus sat humbly on the back of an ass, my child!
How could a zephyr ride an ass?
Spirit, find your way, in seeking lowness like a stream.
Reason, tread the path of selflessness into eternity.

Remember God so much that you are forgotten.
Let the caller and the called disappear;
be lost in the Call...............Rumi

Friendship...

He is wise who treats an acquaintance as a friend, and he is foolish who treats
a friend as an acquaintance, and he is impossible who treats friends and
acquaintances as strangers; you cannot help him.

Bowl of Saki, by Hazrat Inayat Khan

Commentary by Pir-o-Murshid Inayat Khan:

Friendship as the average person understands it is perhaps little more than
acquaintance; but in reality it is more sacred than any other connection in the
world. To a sincere person, entering into friendship is like entering the gates
of heaven; and a visit to his friend is a pilgrimage to a true loving friend.

When, in friendship, a thought arises, 'I will love you as you love me,' or, 'I
will do to you as you do to me,' this takes away all the virtue of the
friendship, because it is a commercial attitude, prevalent everywhere in the
commercial world: everything is done for a return, and measure is given for
measure. ... One ought to look upon acquaintanceship as the sowing of the seed
of friendship, not as a situation forced upon one; for those who turn their
backs on a man and look at him with contempt also do that to God. To think,
'That person is perhaps of no value; that person is of no importance,' is
impractical, besides being unkind. As all things have their use, both flowers
and thorns, both sweet and bitter, so all men are of some use; what position,
what class, what race, what caste they belong to makes no difference.

Friendship with good and bad, with wise and foolish, with high and low, is
equally beneficial, whether to yourself or to the other. What does it matter if
another be benefited by your friendship, since you would like to be benefited by
someone else's friendship? He is wise who treats an acquaintance as a friend,
and he is foolish who treats a friend as an acquaintance, and he is impossible
who treats friends and acquaintances as strangers; you cannot help him.

OMNIPOTENCE ...

Specific Principles as Seeds: One Power

When you begin a study of the Infinite Way , you discover that there is somewhat of a system to it, that it is made up of specific principles…. One of these principles with which you will work and which will be responsible for most of the good that comes into your experience will be the principle which we usually call one power, but sometimes we call nonpower….

…In the human way of living, there are two powers. There is a power for good and a power for evil, just as the mind can be used for good purposes or for evil purposes, for unselfish or for selfish purposes. This is because in the human picture there are always the pairs of opposites. …everyone uses the power of good sometimes and the power of evil at other times. No one is immune from the pairs of opposites….In the human picture, you are always dealing with two powers. When you come to a spiritual revelation, however, you will discover that the secret of the Spirit is that there is only one power.

From Jesus' spiritual outlook, disease had no power….In every case, he just acknowledged that God is the only power and that this appearance he was facing was not a power at all. He did not acknowledge a power of lack; he never acknowledged a power of disease; he never acknowledged a power of sin;… He just said, “Neither do I condemn thee.” In other words, there is no power in this.

Where Is Power?

You should face every situation in life from the standpoint that no situation has any power…. As you begin to look out at this world of appearances and remember all the appearances of evil that you can think about or have read about in the paper today, heard about on the air, or that you know about among your friends or family, try to remember the only reason these conditions persist is that persons believe they have power… Then you will see how revolutionary this idea is in your own consciousness. You cannot at the moment even imagine the depth of this unfoldment, nor can you imagine the effect of it in your life when you begin to accept within yourself that out here there is no power:

All power is within me, and it does not have to be used, because there is nothing out here on which to use it or use it against.

Forever Reaching...

Your belief that something-is-missing-in-the-present-moment
provides the momentum for the melodrama of your life to propel
itself outward in search of this absent and elusive "something."

Similarly, the proverbial donkey is never able to arrive at the
dangling carrot because the carrot is always kept just out of its
reach.

Just like it is for you.

Life's ongoing momentum prevents you from reaching any
permanent satisfaction or experiencing any sense of final
completion.

Sadly, though, you never seem to run out of new carrots to dangle
in front of your ravishing "I's."

It's Time...

"Time to cash in your chips
put your ideas and beliefs on the table.
See who has the bigger hand
you or the Mystery that pervades you.

Time to scrape the mind's shit
off your shoes
undo the laces
that hold your prison together
and dangle your toes into emptiness.

Once you've put everything
on the table
once all of your currency is gone
and your pockets are full of air
all you've got left to gamble with
is yourself.

Go ahead, climb up onto the velvet top
of the highest stakes table.
Place yourself as the bet.
Look God in the eyes
and finally
for once in your life

The Five main paths of Yoga ...

There are essentially five main paths of yoga . These paths differ in their emphasis, but all lead to the same place - nirodah which means surrender. Raja Yoga , the royal path, emphasizes meditation; Jnana Yoga the path of wisdom, emphasizes self-enquiry; Karma Yoga , the path of action, emphasizes service; and Bhakti Yoga , the path of devotion, emphasizes worship, and Hatha Yoga, the path of energy, emphasizes energetic balancing .

Hatha yoga is the path of yoga most popular in the western world. Along the path of hatha yoga are various styles or schools including Iyengar, Ashtanga, Sivananda, Bikram, Vinni, and Power Yoga. Each style of yoga has a slightly different emphasis, but effectively, each should balance the five main elements of hatha yoga - asanana, vinyasa, pranayama, bhandas, and drushti. These five elements, which are based on the five natural elements : space, earth, water, air and fire essentially define hatha yoga. The presence of these five elements in ones practice is what distinguishes hatha yoga from stretching or simply making shapes with your body.

Duality...

Gautama Buddha, October 1, 2006.

The true definition of the eightfold path
You see, my beloved, when you rise above duality, you clearly see that there is something that is unreal. But that which is unreal is not in opposition to that which is real, as that which is humanly wrong is in opposition to that which is humanly right.

That which is unreal is simply unreal. It is outside reality, separate from reality. But it is not and cannot be in opposition to reality. For that which is real can have no opposition.

Nothing can threaten that which is real.

Thus, the first step on the spiritual path is to reach for something beyond duality. And that is what Jesus expressed so beautifully when he said, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his right-eousness.” Seek ye first the higher “right” of God. This is also what I expressed in the definition of the eightfold path. So many Buddhists have misinterpreted the eightfold path and believe that it can be defined in human terms. What is right livelihood. What is right action. What is right thought. What is right association and so on.

But you see, the true definition of the eightfold path is that you reach for the “right” of God that is beyond duality. But how can you reach for that right, that higher right? Well, you can do so only when you realize the noble truth that everything that springs from duality causes suffering, and that the cause of suffering is wrong desire that is based on an attachment to the things of this world, be it the sensual pleasures or the desire to be right in a human sense and feel that you are better than those whom you define as wrong because they are different from you or hold opposite views from you.

Oh my beloved, there are so many people on this planet who spend their entire lives seeking to establish this sense of superiority of being better than others. They always see themselves as being in competition with others and this goes from the so-called ordinary people, who are, as the saying goes, seeking to keep up with the Joneses, in having better houses, bigger cars and more material goods. And it goes all the way up to the people in the power elite who are seeking to have more power than those other people in those other power elite groups with whom they are comparing themselves.

My beloved, you can spend lifetimes on this senseless quest of seeking to be thought right among men. Or you can reach up for the reality of being right with God. Yet in order to be right with God you must be willing to consciously and willfully choose to let go of your attachments to the things in the material realm. For as long as you are attached to being right with other people, to being popular or not to be seen as an outcast or ridiculed for your beliefs, or your lifestyle or your actions, as long as you are attached to anything, any appearance in this world, to your standing among human beings, then you will not be free to grasp the higher right of God or to express that right.

So my beloved, I taught 2,500 years ago, that non-attachment is the key to peace of mind. And that teaching is true. It is timeless. It is eternal. Yet as Jesus has pointed out, there is no teaching expressed in words that the human ego cannot pervert. For anything expressed in words can be taken by the dualistic mind and interpreted according to this extreme or that extreme or even the false concept of the Middle Way as something that is right between the two dualistic extremes.

So you see my beloved, even the concept of the Middle Way can be misinterpreted. For truly, I never told people to come to the midpoint between the two dualistic extremes. I taught them to transcend the entire scale of duality, the entire consciousness of duality. And this is the essence of Buddhahood. Yet to transcend duality you must be willing to let go of the desires, the beliefs, the attachments that spring from duality. And thus you must come to the point where you love the right of God more than the right of man.

And this must in the end be a conscious decision you make. Truly, not everyone is ready to make that decision. But certainly those who are the spiritual people are ready or can quickly become ready. And if you will contemplate these concepts, you will come to a point where you feel a spontaneous, inner surge of love for the higher reality of God that suddenly makes it easy to let go of some attachment. And once you realize how easy it is to let go of one attachment, you can build a momentum of letting go of the attachments as quickly as you see them.........from askrealjesus.com

Duality...

Good and Evil are Dualities.. The story of Lucifer choosing duality which we
call evil is also called ego.. It is the false self that we have chosen to
become.. It is not Real, It is an illusion of our making.. the word Evil means
Ego.. It is the word of selfishness and desire.. The word Love is non-ego and
non-selfishness and non-duality.. This is why we call God Love.. Love is the
very energy of non-duality.. when there is Love within a family, there is no
separation, there is unity.. So it is with the Unity that we call God..Whether,
this unity is spirit or material is no matter, as in Truth, All is
Spirit..........namaste, thomas

Cast Off This Ego...

By

Sri Swami Sivananda
The so-called bewildered and tumultuous world with its never ending tale of toil and tears is in reality a majestic university of wisdom wherein everyone learns from the living book of life of their own as well as that of philosophers of realisation, of saints and sages, of divine teachers and holy masters. They that put forth their own ego shall learn nothing in this grand university and all that they have shall be taken and they shall be left forlorn. The man of ego loves his own ignorance; he glories in his own foolishness and attaches much importance to his perishable body and thereby he exposes himself to the winds of adversity, storms of woes and strokes of fate and affliction. He is filled with nescience and in his audacity, he disobeys the Law of Life; he shall have no admission into the portals of Eternal God and Supreme Felicity; he will be imprisoned in his own cocoon of misery and shall never be let out into boundless Empyrean Blessedness.

Looking through the wrapped perspective of his own ego, man has made this earth a hell of gloom and death, torture and frustrations. Looking through the medium of his own illusions and sensuous mind, he has made this temple of happiness, this world, into a den of anguish and grief, terror and forlornness. Laws of darkness and death rule him and not that of light and life. Staying in his own ego, man invites the invasion of sins and annihilation.

Wisdom appears to him as folly, purity as impurity, perfection as imperfection, humility as cowardice, meekness, weakness, service as attachment and passion, compassion as hypocrisy, and everything else appears just the opposite to the man’s perverted mind intoxicated with the wine of ego.

The man of ego is ruled by vanity, he is governed by utter pride; hatred grips him, folly sways him, delusion sits in his very intelligence, evils hover round him and his steps lead him into the realms of denser ignorance and ruin. But his understanding being clouded and his discrimination being obscured by his own prejudiced preconceptions, he is unaware of his own sorry state. On the contrary, he feels himself well off and all knowing and surveys the rest of humanity with condescending eye as unfortunate creatures toiling foolishly far below him in evolution’s scale. Such is the self delusion of the ego. Where the egotism is not, there is all blessedness, all goodness, all glory and there can one find God.

To the one devoid of ego, the whole world is a haven of rest, a realm of peace and kingdom of abounding all happiness. For him there is no more distress. He is purified, exalted and illumined. He sees no sin anywhere and no evil can come near him. Nothing is hidden from him; the Truth stands before him in all its splendour and radiance; the mysteries are revealed to him and all the secret workings of the universe are made known to him. He who has no ego and who has surrendered himself to God is the master of every power and force that there is, for all powers and forces are under God. Egoless man’s is the supreme freedom and perfection.

Too difficult is it to sacrifice the ego, but unless it is sacrificed, no vision of truth and no sight of God is possible of revelation. Sell away your lower self and purchase the Supreme Self. Withdraw your mind from justifying your position; serve your enemies; sacrifice all your rights if you wish to rule; love those who hate you; resist not if you wish to conquer; sacrifice all that you feel belongs to you. Seek nothing if you wish to have everything. Conquer yourself if you wish to have the Highest Freedom. Take no shelter under ego if you wish to be protected by the Supreme Power, the Almighty God.

Let one annul all forms of ego and he shall see the Divine Truth reflected in his own heart within; he shall be illumined with the Divine Knowledge forthwith. Let the ego be destroyed; lose yourself in the love of all; negate yourself and merge yourself in the service of all and thereby you shall see that you have become one with the Supreme Lord who is all in this vast universe.

Empty yourself of your egoism and all the impurity connected with it and you shall see the inexhaustible Abundance of Prosperity, of God filling you to the brim, nay, filling you so much that you cannot contain it any longer. Sacrifice a little of your ego, be it even so little a fraction of it, that in itself shall be sufficient pretext for God to inundate your being with His Delight, His Power and His Light. Such is His Divine Love and Compassion. Deny yourself a little and be indifferent towards the turmoil of outward happenings, towards the external surge of like and dislike, pathos and pleasantry, and the seemingly crushing stress of life and fall back upon the Lord, for you shall be let out into the Blessedness, Peace and Wisdom and eternal joy.

Path of Personal Christhood...

•Each person walks the Path of Personal Christhood on one of the 7 major spiritual rays.
•Christhood is the state of being the Christ.
•Following the Path to Christhood enables you to discover your unique individuality that is anchored in your Higher Self, your I AM Presence, in harmony with the Whole.
•There is no standard way for you to walk the Path of Christhood or to express your Christhood. It is a creative process.
•On this path you are required to systematically uncover and challenge your ego .
•The ego strives to hide behind its many illusions of separation and division.Your task is to discover and let go of each illusion and replace it with the corresponding truth of Christ.
•We each have some development and ability on each of the 7 rays but we also each have one particular ray on which we have more development and ability .And we desire to serve God on this particular ray.
•We can gain some idea which ray we are serving on by looking at each ray and seeing which one we identify with and then embodying the qualities of that ray in our lives.

Rewards...

He who is looking for a reward is smaller than his reward; he who has renounced
a thing has risen above it.

Bowl of Saki, by Hazrat Inayat Khan

Commentary by Pir-o-Murshid Inayat Khan:

When doing a kindness to others the first thing that must be considered is that
it should be unselfish, and not for the sake of appreciation or a reward. He who
does good and waits for a reward is a laborer of good; but he who does good and
disregards it is the master of good.

Life consists of a continual struggle for gain, of whatever kind it may be. Gain
seems to be the purpose of life... But by a still deeper insight into the
subject one sees that every gain a person has in view limits him to a certain
extent to that gain, directs his activities into a certain channel, and forms
the line of his fate. At the same time it deprives him of a still greater or a
better gain and of the freedom of activity which might perhaps accomplish
something still better. It is for this reason that renunciation is practiced by
the Sufis; for with every willing renunciation a person proceeds a step towards
a higher goal. No renunciation is ever fruitless. The one who is looking for a
gain is smaller than his gain; the one who has renounced a thing has risen above
it.

Renunciation is not a thing that can be learned or taught. It comes by itself as
the soul develops; when the soul begins to see the true value of things. All
that is valuable to others, a seer soul begins to see otherwise. This shows that
all things that we see as precious or not precious, their value is according to
the way we look at them. For one person, the renunciation of a penny is too
much; for another that of all he has is nothing. It depends on how we look at
things. All things one renounces in life, one rises above. Man is a slave of the
thing which he has not renounced; of things that he has renounced he becomes
king. This whole world can become a kingdom in his hand if a person has
renounced it. But renunciation depends upon the evolution of the soul. One who
has not evolved spiritually cannot well renounce. For the grownup persons little
toys so valuable to children, are nothing. It is easy for them to renounce this.
So it is for those who develop spiritually -- all things are easy to renounce.

Freedom...

Freedom is not
arrogance
Freedom is not
self-assertion
Freedom is
where you feel joy.

you know everything
and having everything
you are bound by nothing;
this is the true nature
of a free soul.

Fear...

Ram Tzu knows this…

The fear never leaves you.
It is part of you
As tied to your center as your breath.

Touch it,
Stroke it
Get to know it well.
As long as you are
It will be with you.

You scream
You shout
You rage
You want quit of it.
You push it away with all your strength.

But hear this…

It thrives on all this exercise
You give it.
It gets stronger when
You give it something to push against.

Left alone it will wither and die.

But you know you can not leave it alone.
You must always fight the fear.
It is your nature to always fight.

Yet sometimes there is Grace…
You disappear into it
And there is no longer a battle.

The warrior is gone.

- Ram Tzu

Allowing Evil...

It will be found by experience that preoccupation with such questions as "Why does God allow evil in the world?" will fall away under the influence of the Witness Self. The question is relative to and relevant only in the sphere of the personal self in interaction with other personal selves, and in that sphere it has no answer. In the sphere of the Overself the question does not exist. "Come unto Me, all ye that are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest" is still as true as when spoken by the Christ nearly two thousand years ago.

One God...

Sufism is the Message of Love, Harmony, and Beauty

The Sufi sees the truth in every religion. If invited to offer prayers in a church, a mosque, a synagogue, or a temple, the Sufi is ready to do so, knowing that all people worship the same God, the Only Being, no matter what Name they use. Yet the Sufi's true house of worship is the human heart, in which the Divine Beloved lives. Sufism is a religion for those who wish to learn religion from it, a philosophy for those wanting wisdom from it, a mystical path for any who would be guided by it to the unfoldment of the Soul, and yet it is beyond all these things. It is the Light of Life, which is the sustenance of every soul.

“Now how does the Sufi look at the question of God? Does he believe in one God? Believes in one God, how can he tolerate the belief in many gods? The answer is that the point of view of the Sufi is to bring peace among the different believers. He does not differ from them; he sees their point of view. He sees that those who have many gods also worship God. They worship the different attributes of God

As there is a saying: ‘To understand all is to forgive all’. It is according to this saying that the Sufi looks upon life. Even he is willing to tolerate the conception of many gods, having the realization of the one God.” - Hazrat Inayat Khan

Give us bread (understanding/support) for our needs from day to day.
Loose the cords of mistakes binding us, as we release the strands we hold of others’ faults.
Do not let surface things delude us.
But free us from what holds us back from our true purpose.
To you belongs the ruling will, the life and power to do, the song which beautifies all, from age to age it renews.
Amen (Sealed in trust and faith.)

The Law of One...

All is one

There is the Law of One

And all resides within this Law.

That all souls are cells of the body of this Awareness

And when this Law is obeyed

There is no need for any entity to struggle or to compete;

For this is likened

Unto the parts of one´s body

Fighting the other parts of one´s body,

And in general the body being at war with itself.

With the Law of One you may be at peace,

In the body of this Awareness.

...The Law of One is a fixed and Universal Law

In which those who understand the Law of One

Realize that all is One,

And all that appears to be separate,

Will in the end be nothing but an illusion

To those who followed the path of the separateness

Which appeared as scattered fragments.

...The Universe is one totality

And when entities recognize that wholly universe

Then they may move into that universal harmony.

Giving...

If you knew what I know about the power of
giving, you would not let a single meal pass
without sharing it in some way.

- Buddha

I wonder...

I wonder
from these thousand of "me's",
which one am I?
Listen to my cry, do not drown my voice
I am completely filled with the thought of you.
Don't lay broken glass on my path
I will crush it into dust.
I am nothing, just a mirror in the palm of your hand,
reflecting your kindness, your sadness, your anger.
If you were a blade of grass or a tiny flower
I will pitch my tent in your shadow.
Only your presence revives my withered heart.
You are the candle that lights the whole world
and I am an empty vessel for your light.

Appearance in Consciousness...

Not only is the world an appearance-in-Consciousness, but so is the ego. It is in the end a thought, perhaps the strongest of all; and only the Consciousness-in-Itself is the Reality from which it draws sustenance, existence, life.

Christ Consciousness...

The core principle of the Christ Consciousness Quotient is that there are two philosophies or thought systems. These are the Christ/Buddha thought system and the negative ego thought system. Every person on Earth, or in the infinite universe for that matter, falls into one, the other, or a combination of both. The key to building up your Christ Consciousness Quotient is to deny all negative ego thoughts from entering your conscious mind from self or others and to keep your mind thinking, affirming and visualizing only Christ thoughts and Christ images at all times. It only takes twenty-one days to cement a habit into the subconscious mind, so the more you practice this, the more habitual, in a positive sense, it will become.

As the Bible says, "Let this mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus." Christ consciousness is an attitude and philosophy of life that creates unconditional love, oneness, joy, inner peace, equanimity, non-judgmentalness, forgiveness and compassion in all moments and situations of life. It is a choice! So in each moment and situation in life ask yourself, "Do I choose GOD and Christ consciousness in this situation or do I choose negative ego consciousness, glamour, illusion and maya?"

To build your Christ Consciousness Quotient, keep choosing GOD, unconditional love, positivity and oneness in your thinking and interpretations of life which will lead to the creation of only positive, loving, spiritualized feelings and emotions. It is our thoughts that create our feelings and emotions and the question you must continually ask yourself in every moment of your life is whether your thoughts, interpretations and motives are coming from the negative ego or the Christ consciousness, Higher Self, Monad, Ascended Masters and GOD. It is really that simple. For a deeper explanation of how the Christ Mind and Negative Ego Mind think, please read my books How to Clear the Negative Ego and Soul Psychology. For this reason Christ Consciousness becomes one of the eight primary quotients that is deserving of our constant attention........ from www.meaningoflife.i12.com/Christconsciousness.htm

The Nexus of the Historical and Ultimate Dimensions...

The nembutsu is the spiritual “buzz” or “vibe” of the cosmos. It can also be seen as the intimate calling of life itself, manifesting in our hearts and minds, transforming suffering into wholesomeness. The nembutsu is the union of all opposites, in which the limited and confused self is integrated with Boundless Life and Light. In other words, it is the union of the historical and ultimate dimensions in the very here and now. With Namu-Amida-Butsu, uncertainty and death are transformed into assurance and deathlessness. That is to say, the finite, frail and mortal individual awakens to the fact that she has always been fused within the one life, which freely and totally bequeaths itself to her through compassion and wisdom. As a result of this profound recognition, our deep seated alienation and a sense of separation are replaced by spiritual inclusion and nurturing interconnection. Shinshu Kyodan Remei captured the feeling of this inner transformation when he wrote, “Namu-Amida-Butsu is the cry of joy, when meeting my true self.”

At its root, the voicing of the nembutsu is a non-dual practice, that is, its voicing does not just originate from our volition or ego-centered will power but is really the result of the ceaseless working of Boundless Life within us, personified as Amida Buddha. It is the natural consequence of deeply hearing the cosmic “buzz” with the entirety of one’s mind, body and speech. As Muso Kimura so nicely stated, “While in a world of voices, one transcends all voices and one hears the voice that is voiceless.” Shinran Shonin clarified this non-dual nature of the nembutsu by saying, “although I recite the nembutsu, I am not reciting. It is Amida in me that makes me recite…” The non-dual expression of Namu-Amida-Butsu, as a sign of spiritual liberation, empowers us to truly fuse our lives with reality’s deepest source and consciously partake in the Pure Land, which is the realm of eternal life. This articulates the completion of circle of life, in which the merger of Namu (historical) with Amida (ultimate) manifests as Butsu (awakening) in the eternal now.

Through the ceaseless working of the nembutsu, we are transformed to live at the nexus of the historical and ultimate dimensions. As 20th century Shin Buddhist philosopher Zuiken summed it up, “the essence of the Mahayana is; without severing blind passions, one attains Nirvana.” That is the say, our foolish and fictitious selves are gradually dissolved and we are gratefully brought to the realization of the natural life, in which we are no longer bounded by our self-limitations, isolated from the past, present and future but truly seeing everything arising and blending together within the boundless interplay of the Pure Land.......from tripod.com

HAKUIN ZENJI - SONG OF ZAZEN

Dharma poem by Hakuin Ekaku [1685-1768]

All beings by nature are Buddha,
as ice by nature is water;
apart from water there is no ice,
apart from beings no Buddha.
How sad that people ignore the near
and search for truth afar,
like someone in the midst of water
crying out in thirst,
like a child of a wealthy home
wandering among the poor.
Lost on dark paths of ignorance
we wander through the six worlds,
from dark path to dark path we wander,
when shall we be freed from birth and death?
For this the zazen of the Mahayana
deserves the highest praise:
offerings, precepts, paramitas,
Nembutsu, atonement, training--
the many other virtues--
all rise within zazen.
Even those with proud attainments
wipe away immeasurable crimes--
where are all the dark paths then?
the Pure Land itself is not far.
Those who hear this truth even once
and listen with a grateful heart,
treasuring it, revering it,
gain blessings without end.
Much more, if you dedicate yourself
and confirm your own self-nature--
that self-nature is no nature--
you are far beyond mere argument.
The oneness of cause and effect is clear,
not two, not three, the path is put right;
with form that is no form
going and coming--never astray,
with thought that is no thought
singing and dancing are the voice of the Law.
Boundless and free is the sky of Samadhi,
bright the full moon of wisdom,
truly is anything missing now?
Nirvana is here, before your eyes,
this very place is the Lotus Land,
this very body the Buddha.

To Serve...

Life is given.
Nothing is earned,
so learn to serve others,
not your own desire and greed
and ego. They steal your energies,
whereas devotion builds your strength
and protects the intelligent flame
that leads to the truth within.

Reality...

THAT is real being which is faultless and partless, and without a single one of the characteristic properties belonging to this physical world. It never varies whereas that world is constantly changing. Such everlasting being is incomparable, unique, and beyond human picturization. Radical Emptiness...

Radical Emptiness

To the extent that the fire of truth wipes out all fixated points of view, it wipes out inner contradictions as well, and we begin to move in a whole different way. The Way is the flow that comes from a place of non-contradiction - not from good and bad. Much less damage tends to be done from that place. Once we have reached the phase where there is no fixed self-concept, we tend to lead a selfless life. The only way to be selfless is to be self less - without a self. No matter what it does, a self isn't going to be selfless. It can pretend. It can approximate selflessness, but a self is never going to be selfless because there is always an identified personal self at the root of it.

Being selfless isn't a good, holy, or noble activity. It's simply that when there is no self, selflessness happens. This selflessness is very different from having a moralistic standpoint. When action is selfless, it tends to do no harm. It tends to be the salvation, the secret alchemy that awakens and removes conflict. It's a byproduct of not having a self. It just so happens that reality is overflowing with goodness and love.

This is radical emptiness - where everything is arising spontaneously. There is no more need to discriminate with the mind between what seems to be the right thing or the wrong thing to do. In ego-land it's helpful to have an ego that can discriminate between right and wrong, but at a certain point, that's not what you are operating by. You are operating by the flow of the Tao, which is a higher order of intelligence. You don't need to intellectually discriminate anymore because the Tao discriminates without discriminating; it knows without knowing; it moves without moving. There is no sense of being enlightened or unenlightened. Since there is no self, there is nothing to be enlightened or unenlightened.

We can talk about enlightened beings and non-enlightened beings, and conceptually that has a use. But when there is no self, when there is radical emptiness, the whole enlightenment thing is sort of irrelevant because reality has become conscious of itself, which is enlightenment. That's what is often missed. People believe that enlightenment is an improvement on reality, like becoming a super human being or God-knows-what. But enlightenment is when reality is awake to itself as itself within itself.

Souls and Rays...

If we say that there are many souls, it is true, just as there are many waves or
many rays of the sun; but if we say there is one spirit, it is truer still, just
as there is one sea and one sun. The waves are an action of the sea, the rays
are a manifestation of the sun, the souls are a phenomenon of the spirit. They
are and they are not. They are because we see them, and they are not because
there is only one Being.

Who is a Master?...

Who is a master? He is the Self after all. According
to the stages of development of the mind the Self
manifests as the master externally. The famous
ancient saint Dattatreya said that he had more than
twenty-four masters. The master is one from who
one learns anything. The Guru may be sometimes
inanimate also, as in the case of Dattatreya. God,
Guru and the Self are identical.

A spiritually-minded man thinks that God is all-
pervading and takes God for his Guru. Later, God
brings him in contact with a personal Guru and the
man recognises him as all in all. Lastly the same man
is made by the grace of the master to feel that his Self
is the master.

The Veil of Truth...

The truth need not be veiled, for it veils itself from the eyes of the ignorant.

Bowl of Saki, by Hazrat Inayat Khan

Commentary by Pir-o-Murshid Inayat Khan:

The soul, absorbed in its child-like fancies in things that it values and to
which it gives importance, and in the beings to which it attaches itself, blinds
itself by the veils of its illusion. Thus it covers with a thousand veils its
own truth from its own eyes.

Truth is vaster than any frame we can make to put it in. Besides, no matter what
frame we make for truth to be presented in, an unawakened soul will never see
it, but will only see the frame.

With still another step further there comes the realization which may be called
revelation. When the soul is tuned to that state, then the eyes and the ears of
the heart are open to see and hear the word that comes from all sides. In point
of fact every atom of this world, either in heaven or earth, speaks and speaks
aloud. It is the deaf ears of the heart and the closed eyes of the soul which
prevent man from seeing and hearing it. There is a verse of a Hindustani poet
which says:

0' self, it is not the fault of the divine Beloved
that you do not see Him, that you do not hear Him.
He is continually before you and He is continually speaking to you.
If you do not hear it and if you do not see it, it is your own fault.

It is for this purpose that every soul has been created and it is in the
fulfillment of this that man fulfills the object of God. When the spark that is
to be found in every heart, the spark that may be called the divine spark in
man, is blown upon and the flame arises, the whole life becomes illuminated and
man hears and sees and knows, and he understands. A Sufi poet says that every
leaf of the tree becomes like a page of the sacred book when the heart is open
to read it and when the soul has opened its eyes.

We may ask ourselves, 'Who is another?' Then we realize that in the true sense
of being there is but One. When the veil of ignorance is raised there is no
longer any 'I' and 'you', but only the One exists. This is the teaching of the
Bible and of all scriptures.

Man is the most egoistic being in creation. He keeps himself veiled from God,
the perfect Self within, by the veil of his imperfect self, which has formed his
false ego. ... and when the ego is absolutely crushed, then God remains within
and without, in both planes, and none exists save He.

Ego and Seeking ...

Assuming you accept the notion that the ego is the great barrier to discovering our true nature and curing what ails us, you will eventually confront the ego of spiritual seeking. Egos are poses, beliefs about our self, which range from the ridiculous belief we are great lovers or unrecognized geniuses to the core belief that we exist. Many say that the ego of seeking is the greatest barrier to finding. There is a grain of truth in that, yet the untruth lies in trying to eliminate this ego. The ego of seeking will resolve itself at the proper time. As Ramana Maharshi says, the stick that stirs the funeral pyre is itself consumed by the fire.

I think it is often beginners on the path who torment themselves the most about the ego of seeking, and thereby threaten to short circuit their quest. In their enthusiasm for identifying egos, beginners realize they've assumed a new pose -- they are now spiritual seekers. As other egos diminish, the spiritual ego and pride grows. They determine that this ego is as illusory as the rest and must be eliminated.

That is not how the process of ego elimination works, though. We don't choose to give up or let go of egos. They wither as their painful ridiculousness causes us to turn from them and slowly cease giving them attention and life. Alternatively, egos are stripped from us when the sharp sword of psychological trauma leaves no other route of survival but the dropping of a pose in order to preserve the whole.

Yet these mistaken seekers try to let go and stop seeking in hopes of finding. They attempt to do nothing, thinking that doing nothing eliminates the ego. Of course, they don't do nothing. They imagine doing nothing -- they "do" doing nothing based on what they've read of letting go and acceptance. If they are really intelligent, they recognize they are "doing" doing nothing and really tie their selves into knots. All the while, other egos are growing to fill the vacuum. This is much ado about nothing.

You can seek without the ego of seeking. Giving up seeking doesn't mean that you stop -- only that you no longer admire the seeker. Don't be like the athlete admiring himself in the mirror. Get down to business rather than play. It is the actor seeking that is not real. Yet none of this will be revealed without trauma and tension -- without seeking. You must observe your many egos and reject that which you see as not you. This process will strip you to your essence.........Shawn Nevins

How The Masters Felt About Love, Ego, and Nature...

Many love to ask what love is. I am not exception to the rule. Love is one of those few nouns that expresses something that is real but maybe not because it is just a word. In other words "intangible". In the case of romantic love it is something we feel with our significant other, but, still, it is intangible. It has no color, no flavor, and no texture, unlike a jacket or automobile. The ancient masters and even current literary giants have taken a stab at describing what this mysterious noun means, and though many come close, still, until one has experienced real love, the words are only words that are interpretations written by masterful writers. Some of them may or may not have experienced love, even so we enjoy reading their loving verbiage.

Theodore Seuss penned a wonderful quote about love. He said, When you are in Love you can't fall asleep because reality is better than your dreams." The great Sufi master and poet Rumi gave a caveat to others who were or are in observation of the lovers; Let the lover be disgraceful, crazy, absent-minded. Someone sober will worry about events going badly. Let the lover be. Obviously it was meant as a warning that this thing called love can be quite intoxicating and a couple in love should be left to their devices. In a way, Rumi is giving a fair warning to others. That those not in love should at least respect it in others.

In many of Ralph Waldo Emersons quotes he talks about love and those trying to interfere with it or drive wedges out of envy or hate. He is saying that nature (which he often capitalized with an N or in quotes (Nature) is at one with God as are we (humans). So interference is based on ego, and, ego has never won over nature, because nature has God behind it. He doesn't come out and say this, he leaves it to the discretion of his readers, but it becomes a very clear thread in the theme of his famous quotes. It is almost a Love conquers all theme in that, how can it not? Love is simply a part of nature as is everything and everyone else; and only ego can try to interfere with it, and ego always loses in the end (if it is up against nature).

Ralph Waldo Emerson who was keenly aware of love and our connection with nature and this is reflected in one of his more famous quotes. Everything in nature contains all the power of nature. Everything is made of one hidden stuff. Even given Emerson's brilliant observance of human behavior and fascinating theories of how the universe works, he had a childlike fascination with nature and it reflects in all his quotes regarding it. The theme of Emerson's famous nature quotes is that we, as human beings, are not separate from nature, and to develop a faith, one must first develop a love and/or devotion to (outer nature) such as trees, flowers, animals, etc. Nature imparts a very telling secret; we are a part of it. Even Voltaire echoed Emerson's sentiments about love with Love is a canvas furnished by Nature and embroidered by imagination. Notice Voltaire, also features the N in Nature; as he considered it, like Emerson, one of God's greatest creation, if not the greatest, since it included the people loving people.

My life on planet earth is now over 50 years Though I was taught many of these famous love quotes in my early days of college, they really meant nothing to me, as, I didn't think they pertained to me. I was still finding myself, as were many of my peers, and in that self-absorption of finding oneself, there is not much time for real love; but a lot of time for self-absorbed behavior . That is what I had and acted-out Talking the talk is so much easier than walking the walk.

In my lifetime, I have been blessed to experience the give and take of real love with my finance Lee Hiller, who, like me, walked many similar paths in her early life in search of self and a love relationship. Ironically, we were both ready for real love at the same time; and we are both very grateful. ......Written by kvadravko

JOSEPH MURPHY: THE POWER OF YOUR SUBCONSCIOUS MIND:

EXPERIMENTS BY PSYCHOLOGISTS: Innumerable experiments by psychologists and others on persons in the hypnotic state have shown that the subconscious mind is incapable of making selections and comparison which are necessary for a reasoning process. They have shown repeatedly that your subconscious min will accept any suggestion, however false. Having once accepted any suggestion, it responds according to the nature of the suggestion given. (Durbin: Note that Murphy writes "having accepted the suggestion". The subject will not accept any statement that is against his/her moral or personal standards. Exceptions to this would be consider "brainwashing" and therefore not a normal use of hypnosis.)

To illustrate the amenability of your subconscious mind to suggestion, if a practiced hypnotist suggests to one of his subjects that he is Napoleon Bonaparte, or even a cat or a dog, he will act out the part with inimitable accuracy. His personality becomes changed for the time being. He believes himself to be what the operator tells him he is.

A skilled hypnotist may suggest to one of his students in the hypnotic state that his back itches, to another that is nose is bleeding, to another that he is a marble statue, to another that his is freezing and the temperature is below zero. Each one will follow out the line of his particular suggestion, totally oblivious to all his surrounds which do not pertain to his idea. (The reactions are true but it has been my experience that there is a part of the mind that knows that it can step out of the situation whenever he/she wants to. I do not do stage hypnosis, but have been a subject on a few occasions. I remember being told that the air conditioning system had gone out and it was very hot, I got hot then he said that the air conditioning system had been fixed but now was getting cold and colder and I got colder and colder. Toward the end of the program, he told me that I was a male striper and that I would start to strip when the music started. I was just about to say, "O no, I am not", but before I could speak, he said, "But you will strip symbolically". I then when through all the motions of stripping.)

These simple illustrations portray clearly the difference between your conscious reasoning mind and your subconscious mind which is impersonal, non-selective, and accepts as true whatever your conscious mind believes is true. Hence, the importance of selecting thoughts, ideas, and premises which bless, heal, inspire, and fill your soul with joy. (p 32)

Your subconscious mind cannot argue controversially. Hence, if you give it wrong suggestions, it will accept them as true and will proceed to bring them to pass as conditions, experiences, and events. All things that have happened to you are based on thoughts impressed on your subconscious mind through belief. (p 34) (Durbin: The subconscious can not tell the difference between imagination and reality. Whatever the subconscious accepts as true, it directs you to act as if it is true whiter it is or not.)

The dictionary says that a suggestion is the act or instance of putting something into one’s mind, and the mental process by which the thought or idea is entertained, accepted, or put into effect. You must remember that a suggestion cannot impose something on the subconscious mind against the will of the conscious mind. In other words, your conscious mind has the power to reject the suggestion given. A suggestion has no power in and of itself except it is accepted mentally by you. (p 35)

You must make certain to give your subconscious only suggestions which heal, bless, elevate, and inspire you in all your ways. Remember that your subconscious mind cannot take a joke. It takes your word. (p 36) How she restored her memory: A woman was in the habit of saying to herself, "I am losing my memory." She reversed the procedure and practiced induced autosuggestion several times a day as follows: "My memory from today on is improving in every department. I shall always remember whatever I need to know at every moment of time and point of space. The impressions received will be clear and definite. I shall retain them automatically and with ease. Whatever I wish to recall will immediately present itself in the correct form in my mind. I am improving rapidly every day, and very soon my memory will be better than it has ever been before." At the end of three weeks, her memory was back to normal, and she was delighted. (p 37)

The suggestions of others in themselves have absolutely no power whatsoever over you except the power that you give the though your own thoughts. You have to give your mental consent; you have to entertain the thought. Then, it becomes your thought and you do the thinking. Remember, you have to capacity to choose. Choose life! Chose love! Choose health! (p 40-41)

Think good and good follows. Think evil and evil follows. You are what you think all day long. (p 43)

The power of your subconscious mind is enormous. It inspires you, it guides you and it reveals you names, facts and scenes from the storehouse of your memory. Your subconscious starts you heartbeat, controls the circulation of your blood, regulates your digestion, assimilation and elimination. When you eat a piece of bread, your subconscious transmutes it into tissue, muscle, bone and blood. This process is beyond the ken of the wisest man who walks the earth. Your subconscious mind controls all the vital processes and functions of your body and knows the answer to all problems.

Your subconscious mind never sleeps, never rests. It is always on the job. You can discover the miracle working power of your subconscious by plainly stating to your subconscious prior to sleep that you wish a certain specific thing accomplished. You will be delighted to discover that your forces within you will be released, leading to the desired results. (p 45)

(While lecturing in India, Dr. Murphy states) I chatted with a visiting surgeon from Bombay. He told me about Dr. James Esdaille, a Scotch surgeon, who worked in Bengal before ether of other modern methods of anesthesia were discovered. Between 1843 and 1846, Dr. Esdaile performed about four hundred major operations of all kinds. Such as amputations, removal of tumors and cancerous growths, as well as operations on the eye, ear and throat. All operations were conducted under mental anesthesia only. This Indian doctor at Rishikesh informed me that postoperative mortality rate of patients operated on by Dr. Esdaile were extreme low, probably two or three percent. Patients felt no pain, and there were no death during the operations.

Dr. Esdaille suggested to the subconscious minds of all his patients, who were in the hypnotic state, that no infection or septic condition would develop. You may remember that this was before Louis Pasteur, Joseph Lister and others who pointed out the bacterial origin of disease and causes of infection due to unsterilized installments and virulent organisms.

The Indian surgeon said that the reason for the low morality rate and the general absence of infection, which was reduced to a minimum, was undoubtably due to the suggestions of Dr. Esdaille to the subconscious minds of the patients. They responded according to the nature of the suggestion. (p 46) Just keep your conscious mind busy with the expectation of the best, and make sure the thoughts you habitually think are based on whatsoever things are lovely, true, just and of good report. Begin now to take care of your conscious mind, knowing in our heart and soul that your subconscious mind is always expressing, reproducing and manifesting according to your habitual thinking. (p 51)

"What things soever ye desire, when ye pray believed that ye receive them, and ye shall have them." Mark 11:24. Note the difference in tenses. The inspired writer tells us to believe and accept as true the fact that our desire has already been accomplished and fulfilled, that it is already completed and that its realization will follow as a thing in the future. (p 56) The most wonderful thing to know is this: Imagine the end desired and feel its reality; then the infinite life principle will respond to your conscious choice and your conscious request. This is the meaning of "believe you have received, and you shall receive." (p 67) In prayer therapy you consciously choose a certain idea, mental picture or plan which you desire to experience. You realize your capacity to convey this idea or mental image to your subconscious by feeling the reality of the state assumed. As you remain faithful in your mental attitude, your prayer will be answered. Prayer therapy is a definite mental action for a definite specific purpose. (p 68)

You avoid all conflict between your desires and imagination by entering into a drowsy, sleepy state which brings all effort to a minimum. (Durbin: This the state of Self-Hypnosis) The conscious mind is submerged to a great extent when in the sleep state. The best time to impregnate your subconscious is prior to sleep. (Durbin: The time frame just before you go to sleep is a natural state of hypnosis) The reason for this is that the highest degree of outcropping of the subconscious occurs prior to sleep and just after you awake. In this state the negative thoughts and imagery which tend to neutralize your desire present acceptance by your subconscious mind no longer present themselves. When you imagine the reality of the fulfilled desire and feel the thrill of accomplishment, your subconscious brings about the realization of your desire. (p 102)

When your mind is relaxed and you accept an idea, your subconscious goes to execute the idea. Imagination is your most powerful faculty.(p 103) Imagine what is lovely and of good report. You are what you imagine yourself to be. You avoid conflict between your conscious and subconscious in the sleepy state. Imagine the fulfillment of your desire over and over agin prior to sleep. Sleep in peace and wake in joy. (p 104)

Marcus Aurelius, the great Roman philosopher and sage, "A man’s life what his thoughts make of it." (Ralph Waldo) Emerson, American’s philosopher, said, "A man is what he thinks all day long." The thoughts you habitually entertain in your mind have the tendency to actualize themselves in physical conditions. (p164)

The kingdom of happiness is in your thought and feeling. Too many people have the idea that it takes something artificial to produce happiness... The truth is that happiness is a mental and spiritual state. (p 164)

Your subconscious mind is a recording machine which reproduces your habitual thinking. Think good of the other, and you are actually thinking good of yourself. A hateful or resentful thought is a mental poison. Do not think ill of another for to do so is to think ill of yourself. You are the only thinker in your universe, and your thoughts are creative. (p 177)

The other person cannot annoy you or irritate you except you permit him. Your thought is creative: you can bless him. If someone calls you a skunk, you have the freedom to say to the other, "God’s peace full you soul." Love is the answer to getting along with others, love is understanding, good will, and respecting the divinity of the other. (p 179)

Forgiveness of others is essential to mental peace and radiant health. You must forgive everyone who has ever hurt you, if you want perfect health and happiness. Forgive yourself by getting your thoughts in harmony with divine law and order. You cannot forgive yourself completely until you have "forgiven others firs. To refuse to forgive yourself is nothing more or less than spiritual pride or ignorance.

In the psychosomatic field of medicine today, it is being constantly stressed that resentment, condemnation of others, remorse, and hostility are behind a host of maladies ranging from arthritis to cardiac disease. They point out that these sick people, who were hurt, mistreated, deceived, or injured, were full of resentment and hatred for those who hurt them. This caused inflamed and festering wounds in their subconscious minds. There is only one remedy. They have to cut out and discard their hurts, and the one and only sure way is by forgiving. (p 186)

Whatever mental picture, backed by faith, you behold in your conscious mind, your subconscious mind will bring to pass. (p 199)

It is said that fear is man’s greatest enemy. Fear is behind failure, sickness, and poor human relations. Millions of people are afraid of the past, the future, old age, insanity, and death. (p201) Fear is a negative thought in your mind. Supplant it with a constructive thought. Fear has killed millions. Confidence is greater than fear. Nothing is more powerful than faith in God and the good. (p 209) Love cast out fear. Love is an emotional attachment to the good things in life. Fall in love with honesty, integrity, justice, good will, and success. Live in the joyous expectancy of the best, and invariably the best will come to you. Normal fear is good. Abnormal fear is very bad and destructive. To constantly indulge in fear thoughts results in abnormal fear, obsessions, and complexes. To fear something persistently causes a sense of panic and terror. (p 210)
