At first,, the Buddha was afraid to teach his new knowledge and understanding.. However,, it is said, that the king of gods,, Brahma,, eventually convinced him... His first sermon, was given to the five ascetic men, he originally journeyed with.. The Gautama Buddha teachings, the men heard, consisted of the Four Noble Truths, and the Eightfold Path,, which are now recognized as Buddhism pillars... These men became his disciples,, and the Buddha’s teachings, became known as the Dharma... At the age of 80,, the Buddha passed away,, leaving his disciples with the guiding quote: “be your own light.”...............
