' The Real Cause of War '...

We have to see the truth; how mankind is dividing itself by various theories, dogmas, principles, philosophies, beliefs, how each one is trying to fulfill, trying to become something in this world; and how this is the real cause of war, of destruction and degeneration. But we do not want to face that; we want economic safety; we want outside conditions to be altered without radically, fundamentally bringing about a transformation in our own thinking, in our own feelings. It is only when we see this truth that there is a possibility of stopping wars, of seeing that the inventions which can be the means of appalling destruction do not bring greater misery and havoc to mankind........................................ J Krishnamurti Pune, India, 1953
