We do not narrow the meaning of this expressive term [i.e. philosophy]down to the merely academic and theoretical.

We cling to its ancient significance and declare that there is no other study whose rewards are so great as those of philosophy.

But it is to be studied not only from ponderous books, but also from pulsating experience.
