' The insanity of seeking '...

Imagine two fish debating about what water is. Imagine two birds trying to come to some conceptual understanding of air. Imagine the ocean trying to grasp what wetness is. Imagine a dog believing that he must travel a spiritual path to find “dogness.”

Imagine two aliens on another planet trying to understand what life is. Do you see the insanity of all this? The same insanity is inherent in the search for enlightenment. Enlightenment just means presence, being, or aliveness. The words are not the thing they describe. Those words are merely pointing to the very life that you are right now.

Your entire search for enlightenment is happening in enlightenment. Your entire search for presence is happening in presence. Your search for being is happening in being. The search for life is being conducted by life itself. You are that which you are seeking. You are looking for God with his eyes.

As this is realized, and it can only be realized now because life is only now, it is seen that no word, idea, philosophy, belief system, or pointer could ever get you any closer to ‘This’ that you already are.

‘This’ is so simple, obvious, and immediately close that it is missed as soon as you go looking for it or as soon as you start trying to find it in thought.
