Real Meaning...

Am I the only one who finds real meaning in the in-between words of many
gurus?

Unfortunately, we have this thing called language, and it is an
extremely poor means of communicating ideas given everyone has their own
ethnic language and personal ways of using that language. Now we have
a real problem, especially when we try to "adjust" ourselves to the
language of one individual teacher.

Even if the teacher is articulate and has mastered the use of expressing
ideas with language, there is the subjective interpretation of what
these words mean for each student. This adds to the problem.

I personally find it very useful to absorb the teachings of several
gurus, then correlating the "feeling" of what their words impressed
upon me about a concept or idea with the "feeling" of the idea of
another teacher. Once you hear more than one individual who professes
something they themselves know to be true, we can derive something for
ourselves, something more real and specific than the interpretations of
words.

I accumulate this, not so I can repeat the ideas in a multiple choice
test , but to derive the meta-meaning, the meaning that is common to
them all. The "meta-meaning" is something to be felt with the emotions,
and sensed. It can be degraded with words for oral transmission, but
can never be experienced in the same way as the individual who assembles
and experiences it.

We have access to so much in the information age, why limit yourself to
the teachings of one? If we are a part of a group, then the group
should not take any greater prescience than any of the other teachings
you find which resonate with you.

A student has many subjects contributing to their enrichment. A follower
discounts all other subjects as invalid when compared to the one they
blindly put all of themselves into..........Ben Del Vento
