Duality...

Like most humans, you are caught in the Trap of Duality.. You
believe that you are the Ego and that God is a being that is above
you and separate from you... But, you must remember what the
Spiritual Master Jesus said;" The Kingdom of God is within you"....
and we are made in the Image and Likeness of God... This Truth of God
within us as Consciousness and the Real non-ego Self of us as
Consciousness means that We and God are One... this statement will of
course shock a soul that believes that they are the body, or that
they and God are separate, but is found to be True when a soul has
had a Mystical Union with God , and finds that the real self that
they are is the frequency of Light within the All Encompassing Light
and Love that is called God..This direct Knowledge of Truth can only
be found by a soul when they have surrendered their ego and their
desire for existence.. when they have truly accomplished this , and
have quieted the body and mind through Meditation, then a Mystical
Experience will occur, where they will be "Born Again" into the
Reality that is God.. During this time of Divine Union, you will
learn many more Truths about the illusion of the material planes and
the fact that All is Spirit and Light.............namaste, thomas

The Path Walked Daily...

"To make a deep physical path, we walk again and again. To make a deep mental path, we must think over and over the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives".
~ Henry David Thoreau

Meditation...

In meditation, we become still and the false sense of self, the senses, become quiet. In the stillness, the quiet, we become aware. In that Silence there is a movement a quickening; Something moves within us. And we feel It, we sense It, we know It. And that Something is your Self; Your Real Self, made in the image and likeness of God. That Self must take over your entire living experience. That Self, must be, the only Self where you appear to be. This is our work.

The Ego is Suffering...

You value the ego so much -- and even your suffering won't separate you from
it.

--Anthony Damiani 8/19/82

Spirit and Matter...

Without keeping steadily in view this original
mentalness of things and hence their original oneness
with self and Mind, the mystic must naturally get
confused if not deceived by what he takes to be the
opposition of Spirit and Matter. The mystic looks
within, to self; the materialist looks without, to
world. And each misses what the other finds. But to
the philosopher neither of these is primary. He looks
to that Mind of which both self and world are but
manifestations and in which he finds the
manifestations also. It is not enough for him to
receive, as the mystic receives, fitful and occasional
illuminations from periodic meditation. He relates
this intellectual understanding to his further
discovery got during mystical self-absorption in the
Void that the reality of his own self is Mind. Back in
the world once more he studies it again under this
further light, confirms that the manifold world
consists ultimately of mental images, conjoins with
his full metaphysical understanding that it is simply
Mind in manifestation, and thus comes to comprehend
that it is essentially one with the same Mind which he
experiences in self-absorption. Thus his insight
actualizes, experiences, this Mind-in-itself as and
not apart from the sensuous world whereas the mystic
divides them. With insight, the sense of oneness does
not destroy the sense of difference but both remain
strangely present, whereas with the ordinary mystical
perception each cancels the other. The myriad forms
which make up the picture of this world will not
disappear as an essential characteristic of reality
nor will his awareness of them or his traffic with
them be affected. Hence he possesses a firm and final
attainment wherein he will permanently possess the
insight into pure Mind even in the midst of physical
sensations. He sees everything in this multitudinous
world as being but the Mind itself as easily as he can
see nothing, the imageless Void, as being but the Mind
itself, whenever he cares to turn aside into
self-absorption. He sees both the outer faces of all
men and the inner depths of his own self as being but
the Mind itself. Thus he experiences the unity of all
existence; not intermittently but at every moment he
knows the Mind as ultimate. This is the philosophic or
final realization. It is as permanent as the mystic's
is transient. Whatever he does or refrains from doing,
whatever he experiences or fails to experience, he
gives up all discriminations between reality and
appearance, between truth and illusion, and lets his
insight function freely as his thoughts select and
cling to nothing. He experiences the miracle of
undifferentiated being, the wonder of undifferenced
unity. The artificial man-made frontiers melt away. He
sees his fellow men as inescapably and inherently
divine as they are, not merely as the mundane
creatures they believe they are, so that any traces of
an ascetical holier-than-thou attitude fall completely
away from him..................Paul Brunton

~ The Simplicity of Being ~

Since we are so conditioned and attuned
to define who we are by particular activities,
we spend our lives overlooking the vast ground of stillness
that is the simplicity of being.

When I speak of the "heart," I am speaking of this same being.
When I speak of the core of every phenomenon,
being is what I am referring to.

When I speak of what is met in self-inquiry,
I am also speaking of being,
whether it is emotional self-inquiry,
such as meeting fear, anger, despair, or mental self-inquiry,
such as inquiring into the actual I-thought.

To inquire fully into anything
is to discover this vast, simple, presence of being -
yourself, as you are.
Being is not a practice.
A practice involves some technique,
a right way and a wrong way,
a belief in getting someplace,
and a reward or attainment.
In the truth of absolute stillness,
none of that applies.

Shifting the Focus...

I find that somehow, by shifting the focus of
attention, I become the very thing I look at and
experience the kind of consciousness it has; I become
the inner witness of the thing. I call this capacity
of entering other focal points of consciousness -
love; you may give it any name you like. Love says: 'I
am everything'. Wisdom says: 'I am nothing' Between
the two my life flows. Since at any point of time and
space I can be both the subject and the object of
experience, I express it by saying that I am both, and
neither, and beyond both."

Death is a Tax...

Death is a tax the soul has to pay for having had a name and a form.

Bowl of Saki, by Hazrat Inayat Khan

Commentary by Pir-o-Murshid Inayat Khan:

All that is constructed is subject to destruction; all that is
composed must be decomposed; all that is formed must be destroyed;
that which has birth has death. But all this belongs to matter; the
spirit which is absorbed by this formation of matter or by its
mechanism lives, for spirit cannot die.

That which the soul has borrowed he must give back when it has done
its work; it was borrowed for a certain time and for a certain
purpose. When the purpose is fulfilled, when the time is finished,
then every plane asks for that which the soul has borrowed from it,
and one cannot help but give it back to that plane. It is this
process which is called assimilation. Since man is born greedy and
selfish he has taken all things willingly, enthusiastically -- he
gives them back grudgingly and calls it death. ...

Death is nothing but the taking off of one garb and giving it back to
the plane from which it was borrowed, for the condition is this: one
cannot take the garb of the lower plane to the higher plane. The soul
is only released when it is willing -- or compelled -- to give its
garb to the plane it has taken it from. It is this which releases the
soul to go on in its travel. And as it proceeds to a higher plane,
after its stay there it must again give its garb back and be purified
from it in order to go further. ... This knowledge also throws a
light upon the question of death. Death is not really death; it is
only a passing stage, it is only a change, as changing clothes.

Why so many Quotes ?

Souls, sometimes ask me why I print so many quotes.. The reason being that these words are inspired ( to in-spire means that the Spirit is within)... These words are meant to teach and inspire the reader.. These words are meant to Contemplate and Meditate upon, and not just to read.. These words are a bridge between Knowledge and Understanding.. So do not just read and nod yes to Truth but let this Knowledge flow to your subconscious mind.. The Subconscious Mind is your Soul.. It must be brought under control by the Conscious Mind to advance in Spiritual Knowledge and Understanding.. The Subconscious Mind forgets Nothing and Never Sleeps.. Once, the Subconscious Mind has been trained to feel only Love,( which is Non-Ego), then the Subconscious Mind will take its' right place in controling the Conscious Mind.. This is the "State of Bliss" and Happiness that is your Birthright.................namaste, thomas

Conscious Spirit...

"There is one Reality,
The Unmanifest-Manifested
Ever-Existent, He is Naam (Conscious Spirit)
The Creator; pervading all
Without fear, without enmity;
The Timeless, the Unborn
And the Self-existent;
Complete within Itself.
Through the favor of His
True Servant, the Guru,
He may be realized.
He was when there was nothing;
He was before all ages began;
He existeth now, O Nanak,
And shall exist forevermore."

Indian Master, Guru Nanak

The Secret Gospels...

A fragment of the Secret Gospel of Mark, one of the Gnostic texts discovered, describes Jesus performing secret initiation rites. Before the discovery of Gnostic writings, our only knowledge of it came from a letter written by Church Father Clement of Alexandria (150 AD - 211 AD), which quotes this secret gospel and refers to it as "a more spiritual gospel for the use of those who were being perfected." He said, "It even yet is most carefully guarded [by the church at Alexandria], being read only to those who are being initiated into the great mysteries." Clement insists elsewhere that Jesus revealed a secret teaching to those who were "capable of receiving it and being molded by it." Clement indicates that he possessed the secret tradition, which was handed down through the apostles. Such Gnostics were spiritual critics of the orthodox Church of what they saw as not so much a popularization as a vulgarization of Christianity. The orthodox church stressed faith, while the Gnostic church stressed knowledge (gnosis). This secret knowledge emphasized spiritual resurrection rather than physical resurrection. Indeed, the Gnostic Christians believed reincarnation to be the true interpretation of "resurrection" for those who have not attained a spiritual resurrection through this secret knowledge.

Bhagavad Gita...

BOTH PATHS LEAD TO SUPREME

The ignorant — not the wise — consider the path of Self-knowledge and the path of selfless service (Karma-yoga) as different from each other. The person, who has truly mastered one, gets the benefits of both. (5.04)

Whatever goal a renunciant reaches, a Karma-yogi also reaches the same goal. Therefore, the one who sees the path of renunciation and the path of unselfish work as the same really sees. (See also 6.01 and 6.02) (5.05)

But, true renunciation, O Arjuna, is difficult to attain without Karma-yoga. A sage equipped with Karma-yoga quickly attains Nirvana. (See also 4.31

The Natural World...

The natural world is subject as well as object. The natural world
is the maternal source of our being as earthlings and life-giving
nourishment of our physical, emotional, aesthetic, moral and
religious existence. The natural world is the larger sacred
community to which we belong. To be alienated from this
community is to become destitute of all that makes us
human. To damage this community is to diminish
our own existence.
- Thomas Berry

nature and spirit...

Hildegaard of Bingen was a twelfth-century mystic, composer, and
author of a theology that knitted together nature and spirit, cosmos
and soul. She described the Holy Spirit as the Greening Power of
God. Just as plants are greened, so we are as well. As we grow up,
our spark of life continually shines forth. If we ignore this spark, this
greening power, we become thirsty and shriveled. And if we respond
to the spark, we flower. Our task is to flower, to come into full blossom
before our time comes to an end.
- Lauren Artress, Walking a Sacred Path

vulnerability...

Those who are willing to be vulnerable

- Theodore Roethke

Nature's God...

I see humanity now as one vast plant, needing for its highest fulfillment only love, the natural blessings
of the great outdoors, and intelligent crossing and selection. In the span of my own lifetime I have
observed such wondrous progress in plant evolution that I look forward optimistically to a healthy,
happy world as soon as its children are taught the principles of simple and rational living.
We must return to nature and nature's god.
- Luther Burbank, 1849-1926

Life is a Mystery...

Life is a mystery until you touch the reality beyond the veil. When
the mind is still and the search is intense, we have the vision to see
reality all around us. Every person you meet is in a world you could
know. Nature waits for our entrance, whether it is a forest or a rose.
All around us is the Spirit Presence waiting for a quiet mind and an
open heart. Walking through the markets and riding in the subway,
we can be close to the reality. We are moving through various
states of reality during the day.
- Herman Rednick

Contemplation...

One cannot but be in awe when one contemplates the mysteries of
eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough
if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery each day.
Never lose a holy curiosity.
- Albert Einstein

Sanctum Sanctorum...

When I would re-create myself, I seek the darkest wood, the thickest and most
interminable and to the citizen, most dismal, swamp. I enter as a sacred place,
a Sanctum sanctorum.
There is the strength, the marrow, of Nature.
- Henry David Thoreau, Walking, 1851

Now...

In contemplating deeply Nature's beauty around one, as some of us have done, it is possible to slip into a stillness where we realize that there never was a past but always the NOW--the ever-present timeless Consciousness--all peace, all harmony; that there is no past--just the eternal. Where are the shadows of negativity then? They are non-existent! This can happen if we forget the self, with its narrowed viewpoint, and surrender to the impersonal. In that brief experience there is no conflict to trouble the mind............Paul Brunton

~ Mindfulness ~

Try to be mindful,
and let things take their natural course.
Then your mind will become still
in any surroundings
like a clear forest pool.
All kinds of wonderful, rare animals
will come to drink at the pool,
and you will clearly see
the nature of all things.
You will see many strange and
wonderful things come and go,
but you will be still.
This is the happiness of the Buddha.

Consciousness...

Please realize this:

You cannot have a new body,
the work is within your consciousness,
exchanging the mental concept of body for
that which Consciousness /reveals/ as body,
and when you receive that from Consciousness,
it appears as form.

You cannot have a new supply or a new income,
the work is done in consciousness, you surrender
your mental concept of material supply, for
that which Consciousness /reveals/ as supply,
and when you receive that from Consciousness,
it appears as form.

You cannot have a new companion,
the work is within your consciousness,
exchanging the mental concept of companionship for
that which Consciousness /reveals /as companionship,
and when you receive that from Consciousness,
it appears as form.

You will not have a new earth,
the work is done within your consciousness,
exchanging the mental material concept of earth for
that which Consciousness /reveals/ as earth,
and when you receive that from Consciousness,
it appears as form.

The work is always done in consciousness,
and Consciousness /reveals/ to you, the New Jeruselm,
a New Heaven and a New Earth. /That which is
received within/ always appears as form.

Becoming the Son of God...

Dear Friends,

Is Christ appearing in your life? Is there a sense of Peace, a sense of
Harmony, a sense of Love that permeates your life? If there is not, then
consider this:

You have within you, the hidden power to become the Son of God; that is,
you have the inner Christ which only needs an outlet through your
Consciousness.

Begin each morning by becoming quiet, becoming still inside. Realize
that the Christ in the midst of you is come that they might have Life
and Life more abundantly. Rest back in that Christ and feel Its Grace
flowing through you out into the world.

Realize that anyone, anywhere reaching out is receiving that Grace which
flows through you to all that are asking. Invite anyone, anywhere, to
draw upon that Christ now flowing through you. Let that flow take place,
let the Christ flow through your Consciousness as you stand to the side;
a witness, a beholder, a silent companion.

At night before retiring, enter again your inner Temple and sense that
flow of Divine Grace through the Christ of you, covering the planet and
all that dwell therein. Invite the Father's Grace to use your
Consciousness to reach the poor in Spirit, the poor in Awareness,
anyone, anywhere, just for Love's sake.

At the end of thirty days of this experience, just twice a day, you will
discover that your life is positively filled to overflowing with the
Christ Presence, with the Father's Grace, with the Peace and Harmony
that Christ brings.

It will then be known to you, as an actual living experience, that you
are standing in the midst of the Christ Presence which you yourself have
released.

You, yourself, are to be filled with the Christ, only when you release
Me into the world.

“And to them gave He Power to become the Son of God.”

The Gnostic Gospel of Thomas...

!His disciples said, "Show us the place where you are, for we must seek it."

The Heart...

Narrowness is primitiveness; it is the breadth of heart that proves evolution.

Bowl of Saki, by Hazrat Inayat Khan

Commentary by Pir-o-Murshid Inayat Khan:

One person will do something and consider that there is great wisdom in his sacrifice, while another who is not evolved enough to understand it will say, 'How very foolish!' Remember therefore that not only to the wise person the man of little sense seems foolish, but even to the foolish person the wise one seems foolish. The points of view of both are different: one looks from the top of the tower, the other standing on the ground. So there is a vast difference in the range of their sight.

It is a man's outlook on life which makes him broad or narrow, and it is the grade of his evolution which gives man the illumination of sacrifice. What a man was not inclined to do last year, he may be inclined to do this year; the sacrifice one could not make yesterday, one can make today, for the rate of speed of man's evolution cannot be limited to a particular standard. A broad outlook enriches man and a high point of view ennobles the soul.

Once you have linked yourself with love, a flood of inspiration is revealed to you, whatever the subject, whatever the problem in life may be. Whatever it be that your eye casts its glance upon, it will disclose itself. Then you are on the real road, and what a joy this is!

Breadth of heart is what is needed for all this. ... It is the breadth of heart that makes a man great, whereas it is narrowness of heart that makes him small. The great heart does not think about how troublesome a person is, and why he should be bothered like this. It is only the narrow of heart that thinks, 'I will cause him some trouble.' It may be justified, but still it is a narrow thought. The one with a broad heart thinks,' This is a small thing, I can put up with it; not much harm will come from it.'

The Nizam wrote this verse, 'The width of the land and the water cannot be compared with the width of man's heart. If man's heart is wide enough there is nothing greater than that.' The heart becomes wide by forgetting the self, and narrow by thinking of the self and by pitying one's self. To gain a wide and broad heart you must have something before you to look upon and to rest your intelligence upon, and that something is the God ideal. This is the prescription for killing the self, and to kill the self is the basis of every religion.

Stress...

The human body produces an amazing amount of energy. In fact, every one of your cells is a tiny power plant working around the clock, feeding energy to the entire system. Our body uses this energy to heat our blood, digest our food, pump our heart, power our brain, and much more.

A huge amount of the energy our body generates currently gets wasted because we're not conscious of how it gets used. Where is all of this extra energy being wasted in our lives? Where are we "leaving the motor running" so that we're always running out of "gas"?

Everyone knows the answer to this question: STRESS!

Stress drains our vital life forces, ruins our immune systems, keeps us on edge so that all our relationships are compromised, leaves us exhausted -- and worst of all, it destroys the possibility of our coming to know what we all want more than anything else in life: a mind at peace with itself, and a quietly contented heart.

Engineers and scientists know that the easiest way to put more energy into a system is not to make more energy, but instead to waste less. We can apply this very same principle to our own lives.

Once we learn how to consciously conserve and direct our vital life force, a whole new world opens up to us........Guy Finlay

Destiny is what we are making ...

By our thoughts we have prepared for ourselves the happiness or
unhappiness we experience.

Bowl of Saki, by Hazrat Inayat Khan

Commentary by Pir-o-Murshid Inayat Khan:

Fighting with another makes war, but struggling with one's self
brings peace.

All our possessions, all that we collect in life, all these things
which we shall have to leave one day are transitory; but that which
we have created in our thought, in our mind, that lives. A person
thinks, 'Some day I should like to build a factory.' At this time he
has no money, no knowledge, no capability; but a thought came, 'Some
day I should like to build a factory.' Then he thinks of something
else. Perhaps years pass, but that thought has been working
constantly through a thousand minds, and a thousand sources prepare
for him that which he once desired. If we could look back to all we
have thought of at different times, we would find that the line of
fate or destiny, Kismet as it is called in the East, is formed by our
thought. Thoughts have prepared for us that happiness or unhappiness
which we experience. The whole of mysticism is founded on this.

Joy, sorrow, love, all depend on our thought, on the activity of our
mind. If we are depressed, if we are in despair, it is still the work
of our mind; our mind has prepared that for us. If we are joyful and
happy, and all things are pleasant, that also has been prepared for
us by our mind. It is only when our mind works without control that
unhappiness, sorrow, trouble, pain, or whatever we experience comes
without our intention. No one could wish to create hell for himself;
all would create heaven for themselves if they could; and yet how
many allow their minds to create these things for them, regardless of
their own intention.

'The present is the reflection of the past, and the future is the re-
echo of the present.' Destiny is not what is already made. Destiny is
what we are making. Very often fatalists think that we are in the
hands of destiny, driven in whatever direction in life destiny wills;
but in point of fact we are the masters of our destiny, especially
from the moment we begin to realize this fact. ... Man is responsible
for his success and failure, for his rise and fall. And it is man who
brings these about either knowingly or unknowingly.

The Short Path...

What is the key to the Short Path? It is threefold. First, stop
searching for the Overself since it
follows you wherever you go. Second, believe in its Presence, with and
within you. Third, keep on trying
to understand its truth until you can abandon further thoughts about
it. You cannot acquire what is already
here. So drop the ego's false idea and affirm the real one.

Spiritual Quotes...

Christian quotes can be linked directly to Buddha quotes and Krishna quotes. Jesus Christ taught the path of love as did Krishna and Buddha. We can call on Jesus, Krishna or Buddha to assist us in our pursuit of enlightenment. There is only one Christ appearing as Jesus, Buddha and Krishna. The teachings of Jesus, Buddha and Krishna are essentially the same. Buddha, Krishna and Jesus all taught that the ego must be removed in order for God to be revealed. Jesus is lord, Krishna is lord and Buddha is lord because they are all emanations of the same Christ Consciousness. The esoteric mysteries are revealed in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, Buddha and Krishna. Esoteric Jesus is the hidden or inner path. The blood of Jesus Christ is love. Every major religion can be connected. Spiritual awareness is what is needed for enlightenment. Compassion is common to Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism and other major world religions. Inner peace and happiness are the goal of Christian mysticism. The anti Christ is the ego. To love Christ is to become Christ. Spiritual metaphysics is the practice of seeking God within one's self. Ego death is required to merge with God. Mysticism is the path of finding the direct experience of God. There is no need for the world religions to compete with one another. The second coming of Christ has to do with the discovery of the Christ that is within us all. It is easy to favorably compare Christianity, Buddhism and Hinduism if one realizes the unity of all life. Spirituality is like the depths of the ocean while religion is the surface. The supreme wisdom lies at the heart of every being................Taken from "Quotes of the Buddha"..

The Gospel of Thomas...

Jesus said, “If your leaders say to you, ‘Look, the (Father’s) kingdom is in the sky,’ then the birds of the sky will precede you. If they say to you, ‘It is in the sea,’ then the fish will precede you. Rather, the kingdom is within you .......

Bhagavad Gita...

The Quest...

Only when they are tired of the frustrations and
obstructions, the spites and cruelties which so often
mar worldly life, will they feel ready to turn in real

tranquillity seem more desirable than the hectic

The Illusion of Separation...

If we look at the illusion of separation in three steps we find a
uniquely human predicament;

1. A form arises (it begins keeping track of it's momentum)

2. Past is the name given to the inventory of movement

3. Future is the result of a keen knack for mixing Past into potential
outcomes

The whole bag is named "I". Meanwhile one being is alive. Living,
like
a fire IS, burning, present, immediate. Regardless of what "I" is
thinking................ Nisargadatta

The World...

I never saw anyone as just as the world. As long as you pursue the world it
will pursue you, but when you turn away from it and seek God, it will leave you
alone and its glamour shall no longer fascinate you.

-Al-Hujwiri, "The Kashf al-Mahjub"

From the Gnostic Gospel of Thomas...

"If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you."
.........Yeshua ben Josef (Jesus)

God Realized...

God is not omnipresent until God is realized.

God becomes a demonstrable experience only in proportion as God is realized. God is present without measure throughout this entire world, but it takes an individual imbued with this truth to bring forth the healing.

In that moment of expectant waiting comes that inner peace, that "click," that something or other that enables you to know that God is on the field, not God mentally declared, but God spiritually realized. Then you can go about your business, and your work is complete.

God gave us dominion over every circumstance, but we must exercise that dominion by an active, continuous consciousness of the truth of our oneness with God, and by the conscious and specific knowing of the impersonal and impotent nature of the source of error. To lay the ax at the root of material existence is to understand it as a product of mental suggestion, having no law or authority.

To live the life of Grace is to realize consciously that "I" is God, and "I" in the midst of me is the meat the world knows not of~ the hidden mystery of life eternal, harmonious, and spiritual.

~ Joel S. Goldsmith, Our Spiritual Resources

Rightness...

"When you first stand up for what is right - because it is right,
not for public applause - you feel a small disturbance. It is sim-
ilar to the slight apprehension felt when removing a bandage from
a healed wound. This feeling and increased self-health always go
together, so have no concern over it. You then rise above this
feeling to a new emotion, one of immense release and relief. This
happens because you are now one step higher in the pure air of
cosmic truth. Now sensing the healing power of rightness, you
permit its swift cure."

Esoteric Mind Power, p. 92...Vernon Howard

Tao Te Ching...

Intelligent people know others.
Enlightened people know themselves.

You can conquer others with power,
But it takes true strength to conquer yourself.

Ambitious people force their will on others,
But content people are already wealthy.

Prudent people will abide.
People unconquered by the idea of death will live long.
People who live according to their means last long.

........Lao Tzu

Bhagavad Gita...

'Without arrogant delusions,
with evil attachments conquered,
the eternal oversouls, with desires turned away,
released from dualities known as pleasure-pain,

The sun does not illumine nor the moon nor fire
that place going to which they do not return;
that is my supreme home.
My primeval part becoming alive in the world of the living
draws existing in nature the senses,
of which the mind is the sixth.

You Are the Buddha...

Rediscovered years later in an old file, the following talk was written by Adyashanti in preparation for the first silent retreat he taught, in July 1997:

Starting right now, this moment, I am asking you to become the Buddha. I am asking you to take your stand, to stand absolutely firm in your intention to awaken to the Truth of your Self.

This is what the Buddha did. He didn't say, "I'll try." He didn't say, "I hope I'll find the Truth." He didn't say, "I'll do my best." He didn't say, "If not in this lifetime, then maybe next lifetime." He came to the point where he didn't look for anyone else to tell him the Truth or show him the Truth. He came to the point where he took it all on himself. He sat alone under the Bodhi Tree and vowed never to give up until the Truth be realized.

The power of this very simple, yet unshakable intention and absolute stand to be liberated in this lifetime propelled him to awaken to the simple fact that he and all beings are liberated—that all beings are freedom itself. Pure awakeness.

The Buddha was no different from you. No different. That is why he serves as a good model, because he was as you are now. So don't worship the Buddha. Don't put him on a pedestal. Don't even look up to him. Become him. Have the same intentions, take the same stand. Be the Buddha now! Put an end to all delaying, to all excuses, to all bowing down to saintly figures of the past or present. Stand up!
You are the Buddha! You are freedom itself! Stop dreaming your dream! Stop pretending that you are in bondage—stop telling yourself that lie! Stop pretending to be someone, or something! You are no one, you are no-thing! You are not this body or this mind. This body and mind exist within who and what you are. You are pure consciousness, already free, awake, and liberated. Stand up and walk out of your dream. I am here to say that you can do this.

Step out of the dream of your concepts and ideas. Step out of the dream of what you imagine enlightenment to be. Step out of the dream of who you think you are. Step out of the dream of everything you have ever known. Step out of your dream of being a deluded person. Stop telling yourself those lies and dreaming those dreams. Step out of all of that. You can do it. Nothing is holding you back. There are no requirements and no prerequisites to awaken. There is nothing to be done, nothing to think, nowhere to go.

Just stop all dreaming. Stop all doing. Stop all excuses. Just stop and be still. Effortlessly be still. Grace will do the rest.

At each and every moment from here on out, have the intention to directly experience Truth, your true liberated Self. Don't think about the Truth—directly return to your experience here, now, moment to moment. Experience Truth. Experience your Self. Dive into your experience. Your experience! Your experience of hearing, of seeing, of tasting, of breathing, of your heart beating, of your feet touching the floor, of the birds, of the wind.

Experience the vastness of who you are. Experience the freedom of who you are. You are the Buddha—experience that. You are the Buddha.

Philosophic Insight...

A mystic experience is simply something which comes and goes, whereas philosophic insight, once established in a man, cannot possibly leave him. He understands the Truth and cannot lose this understanding any more than an adult can lose his adulthood and become an infant................Paul Brunton

Light is Love...

He is living whose sympathy is awake, and he is dead whose heart is
asleep.

Bowl of Saki, by Hazrat Inayat Khan

Commentary by Pir-o-Murshid Inayat Khan:

Life's light is love; and when the heart is empty of love, a man is
living and yet not living; from a spiritual point of view he is dead.
When the heart is asleep, he is as though dead in this life, for one
can only love through the heart. But love does not mean give and
take. That is only a trade; it's selfishness. To give sixpence and
receive a shilling is not love. Love is when one loves for the sake
of love, when one cannot help but love, cannot do anything but love.

Most people will say, 'The other does not understand me.' But why
must there be this lack of understanding? What causes it? It is lack
of sympathy. No words can ever make a person understand. It is the
heart alone which can convey its full meaning to the other heart, for
there are subtle waves of sympathy, there are delicate perceptions of
feelings such as gratefulness, admiration, kindness, which cannot be
put into words. Words are too inadequate to explain the finer
feelings. It is the heart quality which can express itself fully, and
again it is the heart quality which can understand fully. Would it
therefore be an exaggeration to say that as long as the heart is not
awakened a man is as though dead? It is after the awakening of the
heart that a man begins to live.

Sympathy is an awakening of the love element, which comes on seeing
another in the same situation in which one has been at some time in
one's life. A person who has never experienced pain cannot sympathize
with those suffering pain... Sympathy is something more than love and
affection, for it is the knowledge of a certain suffering which moves
the living heart to sympathy.

That person is living whose heart is living, and that heart is living
which has wakened to sympathy. The heart void of sympathy is worse
than a rock, for the rock is useful, but the heart void of sympathy
produces antipathy. ... There are many attributes found in the human
heart which are called divine, but among them there is no greater and
better attribute than sympathy, by which man shows in human form God
manifested.

Maybe...

"Thinking isolates a situation or event and calls it good or bad, as if it had a separate existence. Through excessive reliance on thinking, reality becomes fragmented. This fragmentation is an illusion, but it seems very real while you are trapped in it. And yet the universe is an indivisible whole in which all things are interconnected, in which nothing exists in isolation.

The deeper interconnectedness of all things and events implies that the mental labels of "good and bad" are ultimately illusory. They always imply a limited perspective and so are true only relatively and temporarily. This is illustrated in the story of a wise man who won an expensive car in a lottery. His family and friends were very happy for him and came to celebrate. "Isn't it great." they said. "You are so lucky." The man smiled and said "Maybe". For a few weeks he enjoyed driving the car. Then one day a drunken driver crashed into his new car at an intersection and he ended up in the hospital with multiple injuries. His family and friends came to see him and said, "That was really unfortunate." Again the man smiled and said, "Maybe." While he was still in the hospital, one night there was a landslide and his house fell into the sea. Again his friends came the next day and said, "Weren't you lucky to have been here in hospital." Again he said, "Maybe."

The wise man's "maybe" signifies a refusal to judge anything that happens. Instead of judging what is, he accepts it and so enters into conscious alignment with the higher order. He knows that often it is impossible for the mind to understand what place or purpose a seemingly random event has in the tapestry of the whole. But there are no random events, nor are there events or things that exist by and for themselves, in isolation. The atoms that make up your body were once forged inside stars, and the causes of even the smallest event are virtually infinite and connected with the whole in incomprehensible ways. If you wanted to trace back the cause of any event, you would have to go back all the way to the beginning of creation. The cosmos is not chaotic. The very word cosmos means order. But this is not an order the human mind can ever comprehend, although it can sometimes glimpse it."

~ Eckhart Tolle
from "A New Earth"

Witness of the Ego...

This is the true insight, the permanent illumination that neither comes nor goes but always is. While being serious, where the event or situation requires it, he will not be solemn. For behind this seriousness there is detachment. He cannot take the world of Appearances as being Reality's final form. If he is a sharer in this world's experiences, he is also a witness and
especially a witness of his own ego--its acts and desires, its thoughts and speech. And because he sees its littleness, he keeps his sense of humour about all things concerning it, a touch of lightness, a basic humility. Others may believe that he stands in the Great Light, but he himself has no particular or ponderous self-importance.(P)

What is the False Self ?

The false self consists of everything negative within a person. Its nature is to be envious, helpless, angry, despairing, worried, critical, unstable, foolish, and everything else at enmity with happiness.. Religions call the false self, the devil or sinfulness; philosophy sees it as the lower nature; modern psychology calls it the ego-self that lives in illusion.. But whatever the name, it is the cause of All inward pressure, which explodes outwardly in wars, crimes, and other social tragedies... The person dominated by their false self does not live their day, they are driven through it.. They are hounded by compulsive desires, pained by automatic angers, scared by unrealistic imaginations.. Because he identifies with these terrors, that is, because he wrongly takes himself as his false self, his desperation is endless.. He is clutched by an unseen enemy.. "The entire root of your problem is that you cannot get out of yourself" (Francois Fenelon)..............written by Vernon Howard............................namaste, thomas

A Dream World...

Whatever the universe be in human experience, it is, in important ways, like a dream. That is, we must grant existence to a dream world as an indubitable fact because it is a perceived and experienced world; but at the same time we must refuse its form ultimate existence, and hence enduring reality, because it is neither perceived nor experienced after we awake from sleep. This twofold character of the dream world also belongs to the familiar and so-called real universe. It is plain, yet paradoxical at the same time. For this reason, ancient Tibetan philosophers declared the world to be both existent and non-existent. To the
unenquiring mind it vividly is what it seems to be, but to the awakened insight of the sage its form presents itself like a more enduring version of the transient form of a dream world. Both forms are thought-constructions. Both have Mind as their underlying "substance." Therefore Mind is their reality. Apart from Mind the world could not even exist, just as apart from the dreamer his dream could not exist.............Paul Brunton

You are the Witness...

You are so accustomed to think of yourselves as bodies having consciousness that you just cannot imagine consciousness as having bodies. Once you realize that bodily existence is but a state of mind, a movement in consciousness, that the ocean of consciousness is infinite and eternal, and that, when in touch with consciousness, you are the witness only, you will be able to withdraw beyond consciousness altogether................Nisargadatta

Desires...

"Have you ever noticed how your life, how your day is dominated
by desires? Take a look at it. You can do that, right now while
you're seated here. Take a look and see how much of your time and
energy, your thoughts are wrapped all around trying to get some-
thing, trying to achieve something, wanting to go somewhere,
wanting to do something, wanting to attract someone. If you were
to do this fully you might be shocked to see how your whole life
is indeed, one grand desire, one want after another, all pain and
anxiety, all going in different directions, none of it making any
sense at all. More than that you don't know what to do about it,
do you?"...............Vernon Howard

Detect, Stop, and Drop Inner "Voices"

The best time to practice going quiet -- to detect and drop dark inner voices -- is when the world around you is more or less already in a natural state of silence. So, early morning, upon arising, and just before you go to sleep, are the most likely times to yield the best results. But, as you'll no doubt come to discover for yourself, any time is the right time to go quiet.

Find a place to sit where your back can be more or less supported and held straight. Let your hands rest, open or closed, in any position that won't cause tension to themselves, your arms, or shoulders, as you remain seated for the duration of your practice. Twenty to thirty minutes, twice a day, is a suggested minimum time to sit quietly. But do the best you can. There are no laws that govern inner silence. Besides, the day may come when you'd like to sit for longer durations, so you be the judge. Let the length of this time for inner quiet be whatever it wants to be.

Allow your legs to assume whatever position is most naturally relaxed for them. It's better if you don't cross your legs one over the other, as this posture interferes with your circulation, and the ensuing discomfort will become a distraction.

Once your body is situated and in relative ease, close your eyes and let your awareness sweep over the whole of your body. Adjust your limbs again, if necessary, so that no individual part of your physical self is calling out for your attention.

Now, with your eyes still gently closed, let your shoulders take the full weight of your head. You should actually be able to feel the physical transfer of this weight take place.

Then, give the weight of your shoulders and your arms to the armrests of your chair, or to whatever part of your body is beneath them. If you're doing this properly, you'll be surprised how much of your own bodily weight you were unnecessarily supporting without knowing it!

Finally, give all of this collective weight -- head, shoulders, arms, upper body, buttocks and legs -- to the chair or sofa you're sitting upon. Consciously transfer the weight. Let it go. Then let yourself sink into the feeling that comes with releasing all this unconscious physical stress and tension.

The next step is to continue expanding this relaxed and increased awareness of your body to include within it the awareness of your thoughts and feelings. In other words, bring into your enhanced physical awareness the further awareness of what your mind and emotions are doing in the moment. You watch yourself. You're to be an impartial witness to the life of your own thoughts and feelings. Let them fly and hop around within you without the slightest concern for their direction or character. Neither resist, nor let yourself be drawn into any of their attention-stealing antics.

Again, all you want to do is watch. Detached self-observation is your aim. So each time it comes to you to realize that you're no longer watching, but rather that you've been captured by a thought or feeling, and are being carried along by it, just quietly withdraw yourself from that temporary psychic wave. Come back to the awareness of yourself in the Present Moment. This part of your practice is the heart and soul of going -- and knowing -- quiet. You must experience it for yourself. So, as you sit: Let go; give up; go within, and watch. And over and over again, bring your awareness of yourself back into the awareness of the Present Moment.

Pay no attention to what your own thoughts and feelings are trying to tell you the whole time you're sitting. Which is namely this: "You should give up this worthless, unproductive practice!"

Learn to watch, and drop, these dark inner voices. They don't want you to succeed and there's a good reason why: They can not dwell in that silent world you wish to enter, and that wishes to enter you.

So persist! You will prevail. For even as you struggle to stay aware of yourself in the Present Moment, that moment itself, changes. And as it does, so do you.

Slowly, subtly at first, but eventually even beyond those protestations raised by your own mind, the distinction between your sense of self and your awareness of the Present Moment melts away. And as it does, a new, deeper sense of silence floods into you; filling your awareness with itself and, at the same time, with yet another Awareness that the source of this supreme stillness is arising out of your own Being. It washes everything out of its way. And so arrives a quiet mind.

-- Guy Finley

Identification with the Spirit...

Therefore, we detach all confusion from the mind by identifying ourselves with the Spirit. God is not poor, not weak, not unhappy; God is not frustrated; God is not in lack; and what is true about God is true about us; therefore, there is no unhappiness to the Real Self. There is no insecurity in the Spiritual Ego. There is no frustration in the Mind of God within us.
~ Ernest Holmes

Are we born to be Sinners?

If you accept that the soul is of the Spirit, then you have two options. You can reason that there must be sin in Heaven or you can reason that the soul was not created as a sinner, and thus the Christian doctrine is incorrect. Obviously, the idea that there could be sin in Heaven would contradict everything Jesus said about Heaven, and thus we must conclude that your soul was not created to be a sinner. This is supported by Genesis, because Adam and Eve obviously were not sinners until they ate the forbidden fruit.

As Jesus explains on this website, your soul was not created as a sinner. However, you were given free will by God, and that is why you have the option to sin. Jesus also explains that original sin is a sense of separation from God. The story of Adam and Eve and the Fall of Man is really a symbol for what has happened to every soul. The “fruit of the knowledge of good and evil” is a symbol for a state of consciousness, namely what Paul called the carnal mind.

The soul “fell” into this state of consciousness because it separated itself from its spiritual source—it decided to hide from God (Genesis 2:8). This caused the soul to build a new sense of identity, and the soul now sees itself as a mortal human being instead of the immortal spiritual being that “descended from Heaven.”

This new sense of identity is based on the illusions of this world, namely the consciousness of duality that causes souls to see themselves as separated from God. This sense of identity is “born of the flesh.” Because a soul has free will, it has the potential to create an entirely false sense of identity, and the soul can then see itself as a mortal, human being, as a sinner or as nothing more than a blob of tissue. When the soul identifies itself this way, it cannot see Heaven because, “That which is born of the flesh is flesh.” The soul has now become spiritually blind, and it thinks it is a mortal soul instead of an immortal spirit.

In reality, you are who you were created to be, namely a spiritual being. Yet in the “here and now,” in time and space, you are, for all practical purposes, who you see yourself as being. If you identify yourself as a mortal sinner, you will act as a mortal sinner, thereby denying your spiritual origin and your potential to reclaim your true identity.

The only way out of this false sense of identity is that the soul must be reborn. This means that the soul’s sense of identity must be reborn, so that it is realigned with the reality that you are – and always have been – a spiritual being. You must be reborn by the Spirit, whereby you realize that you always were a spirit, “That which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” It is only after you regain your true sense of identity that you can ascend back to Heaven.........from Askrealjesus.com

Your thoughts must all be Constructive...

Now think that out carefully and try to realise its full meaning. On reflection you will find that to have consistently constructive thoughts means cutting out completely all evil thoughts. Envy, hatred and fear are immediately ruled out, and these are but three destructive thoughts on which to commence war.

Guard against Envy.

Whatever anyone else has, you can have, if it really is for your ultimate happiness. The world is full to overflowing with good things. There is plenty for everyone, if you go the right way about it. So, you see, Envy is mere foolishness and small-mindedness. Broaden your mind, and raise your ideals, and other peoples' possessions will cease to trouble you. If you live a full and healthy mental life, your wants will be supplied and you will be happy and contented.

Guard against Hatred.

It is a valueless thing. If you hate a person, are you made happier by that hate? Of course not. Then why on earth waste valuable time and energy on such fruitless effort?

Guard against Fear.

What are you afraid of?

What is your fear? To be afraid is to be mentally and emotionally disturbed in advance of an incident. What is the result of this state of mind? From a study of Mental Science above we have learned that to fear a thing is definitely to assist its coming to pass, which you must admit is an action of amazing stupidity. Another result of this state of mind is that you have decidedly reduced your powers of resistance.

If I am to have a tough fight tomorrow morning, shall I sit up all night in fear and trembling and greet my adversary with hollow eyes and a wobbly fist? Or shall I sleep soundly and well, and arise in the pink of condition and ready to take on anything ? The reply is obvious.

So, apply to your thoughts this test. Is my thought on this subject constructive or destructive? If it is constructive, take heart and go forward with renewed vigour, knowing positively that Almighty Power is with you. If it is destructive, take yourself in hand severely and change your thoughts. It will be difficult at first and you will be clumsy at it, but eventually constructive thought will become, in an everyday phrase, second nature to you.

Now, when a problem is presented to you, bring your imagination into play at once. In your imagination see the job completed and the problem solved. That is the first thing to do. Why? Because by doing so you present to your subconscious mind a complete and detailed picture of what is wanted, and Universal Mind, the all-Powerful, will know exactly what is required and what must be done to bring that mental picture to materialisation.

Having arrived at your complete, imagined picture, concentrate on it. Do not lose sight of it. Keep on recalling it before your mind's eye. What is your will for, but to help you do that? Keep saying mentally: "This perfect thing is the job finished, and I am on my way to it." Allow no doubt or hesitation to creep into your mental attitude. Why should it, when you have Infinite Power at your disposal? Do not be afraid of adopting a direct tone towards your subconscious mind. Avoid mere spineless "wishing," and vague day-dreaming. The Power is there to serve you and loves to do it because, in serving you, It is hastening on to Its own objective.

And what is Its objective? Nothing less than complete and unending happiness for yourself and the entire human family. And what is Its motivation? Love. For this all-pervading Spirit of Life is Love Itself................from Mentalscience.com

The Kingdom is Within...

"The Kingdom will not come by waiting for it. It will not be a matter of saying 'Here it is' or 'There it is'. Rather, the Kingdom of the Father is spread out upon earth, and men do not see it. . . . Let him who seeks continue seeking until he finds. When he finds, he will become troubled. When he becomes troubled, he will be astonished, and he will rule over all things." - Jesus (from the gnostic Gospel of Thomas)

Meditation...

When attention can be sufficiently withdrawn from outside surroundings, and sufficiently concentrated to allow its being held without thoughts, the real work of meditation has begun, its ultimate purpose can then be realised. Those who have not yet developed the capacity to do this do not know what meditation means. For mystical experience can then start........Paul Brunton

A Loving Thought.....by Sananda

If God is a noun
then He is consciousness,
If God is a verb
then He is love,
And if He is a concept
then He is both,
Which makes Him a loving thought

7 Teachings of Sant Mat, The Path of the Masters..

1) God is Real..

2) God is Love, the Ocean of Love and Compassion..

3) All of the world scriptures teach about the same manifestation of God as inner mystical Light and Sound..

4) Our true identity is soul, the Self. Soul is part of God and therefore is, like God, pure love..

5) During this human existence we have an opportunity to experience God..

6) As we experience communing with God's love during meditation -- Surat Shabd Yoga, we can rise above body-consciousness and explore Inner Space, the "Kingdom of the Heavens" that are within us. "We travel back from the realm of Darkness to the realm of Light, from the Light to divine Sound, and from the realm of Sound to the Soundless state." (Swami Sant Sevi Ji Maharaj) The drop merges back into the Ocean of Love..

7) As we get initiated into the Mysteries of the Spirit by a Living Teacher (Sant Satguru), the purpose of our life is fulfilled. Reuniting with God is our reason to be here: "It was for the sake of the God-conscious beings that our True Lord created this earth, and began this play of death and birth".. Reality...

There are three stages on the path of world enquiry. The first yields
as its fruit that the world is but an idea, and this stage has been
reached from the metaphysical end by thinkers such as Bishop Berkeley,
and nearly reached from the scientific end by such a man as Eddington.
The second stage involves the study of the three states, waking,
dreaming, and deep sleep, and yields as its fruit the truth that ideas
are transitory emanations out of their permanent cause, consciousness.
The third stage is the most difficult, for it requires analysis of the
nature of time, space, and causation, plus successful practice of yoga.
It yields as its fruit the sense of Reality as something eternally
abiding with one. — Notebooks Category 19: The Reign of Relativity >

The Christ Light...

The White Light within all humans is called "The Christ"
This is why Jesus is called Christ.. Each human is annointed with the Light of God, which is the energy source of the body... When a soul fully realizes that
they are not the body but are indeed the Light, then they become a "
Christ".. this is the realization that they are actually " Light and
non-ego," which is Love.. this is also why the message of Jesus was mostly
about Love...this is the reason that He said that the Kingdom of God is within
you.. the body is an illusion that appears real because of our belief
in it.. The Light becomes real when we conquer the belief in the
false-ego.. this causes a white aura to appear around the body.. this
is why Saints are pictured with the white halo around their
heads...........................namaste, thomas

The Power of The Angels...

Angels are beings of pure spirituality.

Although the angel is only one spiritual being among the entire
heavenly host, and merely one creature in all of Creation, it has no
limitations of any kind upon its powers and abilities. This is for
the simple reason that their entire existences of having the capacity
to fulfill all tasks given to it are derived from God. One should not
think, however, that because their powers come from a source outside
themselves angels are weak and feeble. On the contrary, because
angels' strength comes directly from God it is beyond compare and has
no equal anywhere in the universe. Such a conception of angelic power
helps to stress the close relationship between angels and God and the
degree to which they are different from humanity.

Getting What You Desire...

"Often we are asked in readings the likelihood of a particular linear event. There is great attachment to these outcomes that are laced with deep desire. Those seeking what they desire blame outside forces for the demise of their dreams. We counsel that everything is possible if one keeps their thoughts clear + concise without the additives of unnecessary drama and scattered focus. If you are wanting to manifest a scenario then be sure your focus is clear and the intent pure. Be truthful with yourself about the origins of your desire. Escapes from your true lessons will not manifest something that ultimately will not serve you, i.e., you may believe in your current moment that a linear experience will fulfill your ultimate desire. However, in the eternal moment you know that it is a distraction prepared by yourself. So be eternally truthful when seeking a desire. All of your thoughts will manifest to physical so be concise and direct especially with yourself. In this way you will get what you desire. The rub is that it must evolve your spirit in some way. If it doesn't it will not manifest. Your higher self will see to that." ... -VERONICA................... Editor's Note: VERONICA often speaks of "Linear Moments" and "Eternal Moments". Linear Moments are those that take place within time as perceived when we are physical. Eternal Moments are moments perceived outside of the time-line, as is done in nonphysical states of being and by all entities such as VERONICA. Also note that all of VERONICA's comments are either dictated or written by here in first, final and only draft. There is never any editing of a single sentence or word

Truth...

When you awaken to truth as it really is, you will have no occult vision, you will have no "astral" experience, no ravishing ecstasy. You will awaken to it in a state of utter stillness, and you will realize that truth was always there within you and that reality was always there around you. Truth is not something which has grown and developed through your efforts. It is not something which has been achieved or attained by laboriously adding up those efforts. It is not something which has to be made more and more perfect each year. And once your mental eyes are opened to truth they can never be closed again.(P) — Notebooks Category 25: World-Mind in Individual Mind > Chapter 2: Enlightenment Which Stays > # 77 .... Paul Brunton

Reincarnation...

In the Book of Thomas the Contender, Jesus tells the disciple Thomas
that after death those who were once believers but have remained
attached to things of "transitory beauty" will be consumed "in their
concern about life" and will be "brought back to the visible realm".

Evil Humans...

There are some humans that are possessed by evil entities that
control their minds but most people that reject the Light are in fact
in a state of complete belief that they are the imaginary false ego..
this belief is compounded daily by those that gather wealth and
power and believe that these false possessions bring Happiness.. It
often takes many years and sometimes many lifetimes to come to the
realization that Happiness is not found in power or wealth but is
actually found when we have given up our lust for these... The fact
is that we are actually the energy of Light and the binding Power of
Love that is using the body as a vehicle for learning...Since Truth
cannot be hidden forever, Happiness will eventually be discovered to
be existing in the energy of Love, on the material planes and
beyond....................namaste, thomas

~ Taking On God's Job ~

The conditioned mind is always taking on God's job, wondering what people are doing and why they do it.
But that is none of your business, none of your concern.
You can just start walking through life
with this natural openness to what is
and be that way under all conditions at all times.
That's what the true Self has been doing all along.
When your true nature is realized,
it is not as if you will have some amazing experience,
and after that you say, "Okay world, I'm ready."
The deepest experience is when you realize that this open, radiant, empty mind and open, radiant heart
have always been open.
They don't need to open; they are not going to open; openness has always been here.
You no longer see two, you see the One in
and as everything.

"Let the Dead Bury the Dead"

People always asked Jesus why, as the son of God, he couldn't rule and bring eternal happiness by making the earth a paradise. Why didn't he have the omnipotence of God? He answered, "Let the dead bury the dead." This means that the world is dead. Who cares what it looks like? Let the dead be busy with the dead. The world is nothing but a phenomenon, an idea you have that's no more alive than a dream or a nightmare, which seems real only so long as no one pinches your toe. Then you realize, "This terrible persecutor or this infinite chasm into which I just fell screaming isn't real at all." No, it wasn't real and it isn't real. Real is what you are, and it's happiness doesn't depend on a dream.

The Christ Power...

Healing is an activity of the ministry of the Christ. "I am come to heal the sick, raise the dead, feed the hungry, forgive the sinner." This "I", this Christ Kingdom, is within you. "I can do all things through the Christ which dwells in me, and the Christ ministry is within me." This means you! The Christ ministry~ the Christ healing ministry, the Christ forgiving ministry, the Christ raising-of-the-dead ministry, the Christ feeding ministry~ is within you. Therefore I give it to you as a principle on which the entire Infinite Way teaching is based. You must turn to the Christ ministry for healing, for salvation, for forgiveness, for food, housing, and transportation, for healing of sin, disease, death. You must turn to the Christ ministry, which is within yourself, for it.

Christ is not a man; Christ is the Spirit of God in you. You need take no thought for your life or for what you shall eat or drink or wherewithal you shall be clothed. You need only to turn within, and when you hear the words, "I will never leave thee nor forsake thee," or when you have the feeling of "My peace I give unto thee," your healing has been accomplished, your sins have been forgiven. The still, small Voice in one way or another utters, "Thy sins be forgiven thee." The Word of God, which is uttered through the Child of God within you, says, "Knowest not thou art the temple of the living God, thy body is the temple of the living God."

Reading these words in a book or hearing them spoken may not always be the healing agency. They can be, if they have come forth from the consciousness of one in the Spirit. But remember that nothing can ever take place of your receiving the Word within yourself. It is your permanent contact with the Kingdom of God. From the moment that this contact is made within you, you are no longer under the laws of weather, climate, age, food, or other physical laws~ you are under Grace.

So meditation is not merely closing the eyes and stilling the mind. Meditation is that actual contact in consciousness that enables us to hear the still, small Voice that is within us and enables us to be fed by It. Just think! "The Christ is the bread, the meat, the wine, the water," and the Christ is within you. Therefore, to be spiritually fed, you must be fed from within. We are told that we must live by every Word of God. Now you know to what we must dedicate our lives. You are not dedicating your life to a person or to a book or a set of books. You are dedicating your life to attaining an inner stillness whereby the Word of God may utter Itself to you, in you, and through you to others.
~ Joel S. Goldsmith, Living By Grace~ The Path To Inner Unfoldment.

Spiritual Discernment...

Unless you have spiritual discernment, words are meaningless. You must
therefore develop your spiritual discernment so that you will
instinctively and automatically know the meaning of esoteric language.

Some have the fanciful belief that once they have experienced spiritual
illumination, their lives will be euphoric and they will be sitting on
cloud nine playing a harp! It is not that way! Do not believe for a
moment that gaining this moment of illumination will free you
permanently from your discords. First of all, the greatest temptations
come after the illumination; and second, the penalty is much more severe
when an offense is committed by someone who has received spiritual
illumination, because much more is expected of those who have much. The
smallest offense committed by those who have attained spiritual
illumination can wreck their entire careers or destroy their health or
minds.

Miracles...

"Miracles happen, not in opposition to Nature, but in opposition to
what we 'know' of nature." - St. Augustine

Illusion...

We dwell in a universe of illusion, for the effects and forms we
perceive possess a stability which is not there and a reality which is
imagined. Even its time space and motion depend upon the perceptions
which announce them or the mind which is aware of them. The mystic
seer's flashing enlightenment reveals this to him, but science's own
reflections about its atomic discoveries are pointing to the same idea.
All this has been told and taught in The Hidden Teaching Beyond Yoga
and The Wisdom of the Overself. But the seer's enlightenment did not
stop there. He saw that the perceiver himself was not less illusory
than the universe of his experience, not less unstable, not less
unreal. He saw that the human ego was but a human idea. It had to be
transcended if truth and reality were to be
experienced..............Paul Brunton

The Ego...

The ego is a collection of thoughts circulating around
a fixed but empty centre. If the habits of many, many
reincarnations had not given them such strength and
persistence, they could be voided. The
reality--MIND--could then reveal Itself.

Thoughts...

"Thinking is one of the daily aspects of linear living. Everything you participate with right down to the brand of toothpaste you use is a thought process. It's something you do automatically without understanding the grandness of what is occurring. Every time you think of something it manifests itself into your daily routine. All occurrences and experience in linear are a result of your thoughts. Often we are asked to define what will occur with one's life. A more informative answer would be for us to ask the questioner what their thoughts include. Are they positive? Negative? Or are they a jumble of randomness with no direction? We find that the more troubled the individual is the more scrambled is their thought process. Our advice is to understand how important thinking is. If you are currently dissatisfied with your life for any reason take the time to examine your thoughts. If you are truthful with yourself you will be able to see the process that has brought you to where you are now. How do you change it? Start by carefully examining what you think about but more importantly how you think. Consider it. Your thought creates your reality. Would it not be a comfort to change those things that are unsuitable for you? It is within your power. Thoughts are the most powerful tool in the universe and they are right there in your head. - VERONICA .................... Prayer...

God listens not to your words save when He Himself utters them through your lips.
~ Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet

Prayer does something to the mind of the one praying.
~ The Science of Mind, page 280

Prayer yearns to speak through you. Listen and hear it.

Surrender and speak it. Watch yourself be it. Enter into the inner chamber of your being.

Close the door on the world of effects.

Touch the stillness within you and listen. Let go of all thought. Let go of being small. Let go of all hesitation and fear. Let go of all expectations. Let the prayer still you. Let it awaken you. Let it move through you like a rushing river of joy. Let it burst open like a flower that can no longer contain the potency of its fragrance. God is forevermore and always shall be.

Yeshua ben Josef (Jesus)

Yeshua ben Josef , whom you call Jesus of Nazareth, is a great god, just as you are a great god. But he is not only son of God; he is a son of God. He was a man who became God, just as you will become God.

What did Yeshua teach? That he is the son of God-and indeed he is. But he also openly proclaimed that everyone is also a son of God. He taught nothing other than that. Everyone is God expressing his perfection as man. And what good would it be for the Father to have so many children who are imbeciles and only one who is perfect? It would not be a very good reflection on the Father's seed.

Yeshua is your brother, not your savior. He was a man who had God within in-just as you have God within you.

Now, I wish you to understand this: Yeshua lived on this plane at a time when man did not love man, when man was in bondage to man and love was not held in high regard. But Yeshua exemplified love- for everyone! It was the same love that would foster his being hailed "savior of the world," for he brought love to this plane where very few expressed it, and he gave it openly to everyone. He also brought the teaching that the Father is not a God of judgment and retribution, but an all-loving God of mercy, grace, and compassion. Unfortunately, that understanding has been greatly altered throughtout history, and throught the writings of those who very much failed to understand the simple teaching of this immaculate soul.

Yeshua loved. That was his great magnificent gift to mankind. And he openly proclaimed that the source of that love was the Father that lived within him-the same Father that lived within all people. What gave Yeshua the freedom and power to embrace all humanity was that he knew that the Father and he were one and the same. He peeled away all the illusions that caused him to live an hypocrisy; and by doing so, he expressed completely the father who lived within him. In that, Yeshua became a christ: man expressing wholly as God; God expressing completely in man. That is what the term christ means: God-man; man-God. A christ is anyone who realizes that he is God and then lives that truth.

The only difference between Yeshua and you, is that Yeshua understood the principle of God within man, and then he lived that principle completely. For that, he is indeed a grand entity. But you are also a grand entity who possesses the same nobleness and the same love to become what he became.

Yeshua is not responsible for saving you or anyone else. Through the realization that he was God living on earth, he became the savior of himself, who then taught others how to be their own salvation through the God within themselves. He taught everyone, "What I have done, all may do, for the Father and you are one. Your kingdom is not of this place. The kingdom of heaven is within you." And he spoke not of hell. He spoke of life and its beauty.

Universal Mind...

We exist always in utter dependence on the Universal
Mind. Man and God may meet and mingle in his periods
of supreme exaltation, he may feel the sacred presence
within himself to the utmost degree, but he does not
thereby abolish all the distinctions between them
absolutely. For he arrives at the knowledge of the
timeless spaceless divine infinitude after a process
of graded personal effort, whereas the World-Mind's
knowledge of itself has forever been what it was is
and shall be, above all processes and beyond all
efforts.

Meditation...

Meditation is a difficult thing...Nobody wants to really meditate unless they
are already convinced in some sense that the life they live is unreal, the world
they are living in is a big lie, that they are being fooled every moment in
time.

Special Messengers...

To love is one thing, to understand is another. He who loves is a devotee, but he who understands is a friend.

Bowl of Saki, by Hazrat Inayat Khan

Commentary by Pir-o-Murshid Inayat Khan:

It is sometimes asked why, if God is all-pervading, there is need of the special manifestation of a messenger such as Krishna, Buddha, or Jesus. The answer is given in the words of the Bhagavad-Gita where Shri Krishna says, 'When Dharma is hindered, then I am born.' This means that a manifestation, which the people recognize as a savior or messenger, always comes when the necessity arises. ... In all ages and to all peoples the message of God has been sent. And that message has been kept by those who received it in the form of a scripture, and the name of the messenger and his honor have been held high by those who have followed that particular message. No matter at what time in the history of the world the message came, one thing is sure: that it has always penetrated the heart of man and left its impression and its influence, ever multiplying and spreading, proving it to be the message of God. ... Since it is the message of God, whenever it comes it is from the same source. When it came a thousand years ago it was His message; when it came a hundred years ago it was His message; and if it came today it would be also His message.

How ignorant man has been through all the ages! And he shows his ignorance even today, for whenever the message has come, man has fought and disputed and argued. Man has held fast to one prophet and ignored the others, because although he knew his religion he did not know the message. He has taken the book as his religion without recognizing the message. If that were not the general tendency, then how could Jesus Christ with His most spiritual message have been crucified? There had been prophecies, and besides prophecies the Master himself was the evidence of his message, as the saying has it: 'What you are, speaks louder than what you say.' And how thickly veiled man's eyes must be by the religion, the faith, the belief he holds, for him to accept only one messenger and to reject the message given by other prophets, not knowing that the message is one and the same!

It is one thing to love and another thing to understand. The one who loves the messenger is a devotee; but the one who knows the messenger is his friend. There is a tendency in the human race which has appeared in all ages: it leads man to accept every expression of the message which has been given him, to be won by it, blessed by it, and yet to fail to recognize who the messenger is. The followers of each form of the message profess devotion to their Lord and Master, by whatever name he had in the past, but they do not necessarily know the Master. What they know is the name and the life of the Master that has come down to them in history or tradition; but beyond that they know very little about him. If the same one came in another form, in a garb adapted to another age, would they know him or accept him? No, they would not even recognize him, because it was not the message but the form that they accepted in the past; a certain name or character; a part but not the whole.

Chains of Attachment...

A Sufi teaching tells of the man who visited a great mystic to find out how to let go of his chains of attachment and his prejudices. Instead of answering him directly, the mystic jumped to his feet and bolted to a nearby pillar, flung his arms around it, grasping the marble surface as he screamed, "Save me from this pillar! Save me from this pillar!"
The man who had asked the question could not believe what he saw. He thought the mystic was mad. The shouting soon brought a crowd of people. "Why are you doing that?" the man asked. "I came to you to ask a spiritual question because I thought you were wise, but obviously you're crazy. You are holding the pillar, the pillar is not holding you. You can simply let go."

The mystic let go of the pillar and said to the man, "If you can understand that, you have your answer. Your chains of attachment are not holding you, you are holding them. You can simply let go."

The Goal of Buddhism...

"The goal of Budddhism is perfection and enlightenment - to become a
Fully Awakened and Fully Energized One, a Buddha, and thus to realize
the Threefold Body, the Tri-Kaya, in completeness. To this mighty end,
the aim of the practice is to transmute the normal human consciousness
and energy into the Transcendental Wisdom and the Great Vitality. Two
methods of transmuting the human nature into the transcendental nature
are offered by Tibetan Buddhism. One method lays stress upon 'Practice
of Mind' (the Path without Form, or the Mahamudra). The other method
lays stress upon 'Practice of Energy' (the Path with Form, as
represented by the Six Yogas). By means of different techniques, or
approaches in the practice, both methods or paths lead to the same
supramundane goal." - Garma Chang
